I'll Try This Again
« on: April 23, 2008, 12:38:26 AM »
I didn't communicate very well the last time I tried to explain this, and will try again.

Squad CO's, please do everything in your power to control your launches during Frame 3.  We had 48 auger/ditch/land and re-up last frame.  1 of them was one of my squaddies as a disclaimer (vox issue).

The method I use to score air-to-air kills insures that both sides of the frame have an opportunity to score an equal number of points, regardless of plane mix, or actual numbers of aircraft that launch.  I do this so we don't have a defeat for one side built into the setup due to side balancing, fluctuating numbers, plane sets, and min/max required aircraft. To do this, I need an accurate number of launches in order to come up with the percentages used to compute the air-to-air portion of the score.  These past two frames I've spent a good deal of time sifting through the logs in order to come up with accurate launch numbers.

I realize disco's and other technical issues come up when folks launch.  I know that a few are going to drag a wing getting a heavy Corsair off a CV.  All I'm asking is for us to work to get rid of the excess and unnecessary false starts due to things like incorrect plane types, improper load outs, or even things like checking convergence, switching skins, or launching on the wrong runway.  Please just make sure all of your guys double check their aircraft selection, skin, load, etc. in the hangar before you roll.

I would appreciate it as it will make my weekend much easier trying to score the frame.
"Can we be incorrect at times, absolutely, but I do believe 15 years of experience does deserve a little more credence and respect than you have given from your very first post."

This is a "Help us, help you" kind of thing.

Everyone wants to see the results of the frame as soon as you can. So the less we (stoney) has to weed through in the way of multiple spawns. The quicker he can work.

Stoney,

I have to admit you first post on this issue left a bitter taste in my mouth when I read it.  This one on the other hand is well layed out.  I sure hope all the FSO squad's understand where he is coming from.

The CM's a working with basicly text files to whip up a final score for all of us.  So all the early crashes, disco's, & "others" add to the amount of data the CM's have to pour over in order to get us our result's.

I'm sure you all understand that the fields remain open for disco's & the guy's that show up a few seconds after launch but come every week.  Every one of those launch's are looked at by the CM's and it just adds to the time it takes to publish the results for a frame.

Complications are expected though.... try scoring up a massive CV battle or even worse... AIR SPAWNS!!! score that :)

I understand Stoney so let me know if the Nightmare's become an issue.

Not bad, only 10%...

Gentlemen,

I was one of the guilty parties. I thought I typed, ".move 33" but upped a A3. The first thing I thought was, "they're not going like this" but, reupped anyway at the proper Airbase. In the future if you want me to tower out and not reup I will comply.

No, that is not what anyone is saying.

It is going to happen, some, we are just asking that people try and avoid it.

Those things happen Spammer. Don't worry. No one would ask you 'not to fly' just because of a crack up on take off or being at the wrong field. Things happen. One of my squadies "LuckyI3" lost his stick right after take off. It became unplugged. He had to reup.
