No Lazs.. Fear is the common denominator so long as it trumps purpose and duty in people's minds.
A while back there was a thread about a girl who sacrificed herself to save her younger sister, while in the control of a kidnapper/hostage taker. A lot of people said she was examplary in her courage. All I saw, on the other hand, was duty and integrity.
It's not courage or some last minute faith that would, if I was atheist rather than agnostic, make me jump out of my foxhole and charge into danger, it's duty. Remove all fear and all you have left isn't courage, because courage is only there to counter fear. If all you have is incorruptible duty, purpose is what guides you.
