Well I had a good time!  I really appreciate the cooperation I got from the pilots.  Sorry for the mixup after A7, I didn't brief the bomber leader properly.  Also I told one guy to STFU and I apologize for being so gruff.  Escorts did a super job.  We had some serious problems due to lack of fuel, but it looks like this hurt both sides.

I'm going to try to make these on a regular basis.  I generally don't fly during the day on Saturday, but my squadron now has a European flight that meets on Saturday afternoon, and I'm trying to be there.

<S> all participants and CM's.

PS Nath I was just yanking your chain before the frame started, sorry about that.

-which of course is my fault.  I thought that with a fuel burn rate of 1.0 25% would be more than enough for a 45-minute round trip flight.  But then the 109s didn't last that long in the air either.

Sorry we took so long to get there LW.  We launched a few minutes after the 109s did, but we launched in the Hangar, and had to taxi, position and hold for takeoff.  We then headed due W for altitude, until we were dead S of A3, then ran N to the IP due W of 7.  Turned on IP, hit the target, got intercepted right as we were dropping, then thanks to screwups by Yours Truly (never, ever order a 90-degree turn for buffs when they're engaged with interceptors), half of the buffs headed home, and the other half hit 8.

There were some good chaotic moments. My bomber took two fuel leaks, which happened to be in two of the three tanks that had fuel in them.  I managed to save a drop for final, and took her in.
The best was watching the landings.
Crash came in for a no-flaps approach (battle damage).  LIttle did he know that that hydraulics damgae got his gear on one side too.  He touched down expertedly, slowed enough before he scraped and spun out onto a crossing runway.

Sunchaser got the "You Have LAnded Successfully" award though.
Coming in on a deadstick, he became aware that he was too high, and, knowing he wouldn't be able to go around, he crossed controls, then broke hard left and tried to curve back towards the runway.
I watch from the tower and think "he's not going to make it"
Sure enough, he comes low over the grassy fields a couple hundred yards from the threshold, heading at a 45 degree angle to the runway.  He's out of energy.  He tries to straighten out, dips a wing and as everyone in the tower rings the fire bells and races to the trucks, hits wingtip-first short of the threshold.
The wing snaps clean off; the force of the collision sends the plane swinging the other direction, and he blows out his left tire.  FIghting desperately for control of his wounded bird, sunchaser  somehow manages to bring the smoking wreck to a stop on the ashpalt.

Absolutely beautiful.

My only recommendation would be for the CM to "sign over" the mission to the country CO (change the "designer" name to that of the CO), so the CO can make adjustments (course, takeoff runway, fuel load) without having to lobby the CM.

Another feature that would help a lot in planning and in the MA is RANGE CIRCLES.

Allow the user to select on a base, select a plane type and fuel/weapon load and then take a look at the map to see an estimated range.

Nice AAR Ding!    I enjoy reading those "true to life" write up's.    I will remind all the CM's not to set up missions. Though handing over the plan by putting in the C.O.'s name is a good idea I think it would be better for C.O.'s to do it themselves.

Duck has suggested we select a C.O. prior to the events so they have time to plan.  Maybe have some kind of sign up page during the week for those that want to C.O. a particular Snapshot.  Good idea he has, but not sure the best way to go about it.

Dad I was thinking the same thing myself.  If the CO steps up beforehand it really would help.  I'm not sure how much response you would get though.  I would love to do it but I am already at my limit with two squad nights per week and beta testing elsewhere.

Tac I posted that range circle idea in gameplay/feedback.  That would be really cool.

Drill saved our bellybutton on that landing guys!

He was gunner and as we tipped left and scraped off the outer left wing he was hangin' out the right waist door like one of those sailor boys in a yacht race trying to keep the boat from tippin' over and it worked!

It seems the mission was a sucess, I think most bombers made it back, at least to friendly territory.

The escort was effective and at least 3 bombers made both targets.

Sure beats the Main Arena.

As a side not we have to appologize a bit for the slightly chaotic frame start ..

We'll try to enhance he quality and a few things we'll adress internatly, so that the Arena setup next time is a) clearer and b) done BEFORE ya all come in for the frame.

Hanger starts.

This may be a problem with my system but my rudder was flutterring with no input and did not work when I tried to use it.

I also have this problem sometimes after landing and rearming.

Once back in the air all is well.

Is this something others experience?

As far as scenarios or events go I suggest a runway start, it allows quicker launch and avoids the inevitable mishaps removing planes from a hanger.

Nono, I'm glad you did not crash, I was above and behind you, also out of fuel and was surprized you got as close as you did.

Does anyone know how many bombers survived the LW attack?
