Looks like Toyota going to Gibbs was the ticket
« on: June 02, 2008, 12:49:45 AM »
Kyle wins #4.

This kid scares me.  4 wins already this season.  Doesn't look like he's going to be slowing down anytime soon.

Ya know, I tried to like the Bush brothers. I really did. But Kyle has turned out to be a bigger bellybutton than Kurt.
Winning streaks are fickle things. They tend to turn on you quickly. I am hoping for a string of DNF's to start soon.

Did you catch Kyle's interview after his DNF Saturday? :rofl

No.  I am very passive now in my appreciation for all things NASCAR.  Used to be I'd make time for watching all of the races but about 2 years ago I started losing interest.  I'll still watch a race if it's on but I don't go out of my way like I used to to watch them.  What happened in the interview?  And I agree with you about trying to like the Busch's.  But then again it's another Busch we're talking about so I don't expect you to like them!   ;)

OK, this will require some setup... Kyle was driving a NNCS car for Braun Racing. He was running on the outside of his teammate Jason Leffler on a restart when Leffler got loose and slid up the track knocking Kyle into the wall. It was obviously not intentional, just a racing thing.

ESPN reporter catches Kyle on the way back to his hauler and asks his reaction. Kyle says he can't understand why his teammate did that to him. Reporter asks if he thinks Leffler did it on purpose. Kyle's response... "Well, DUH!" :cry

Actually the attitude that they are pulling is good for the sport. You always need to have some bad boys in there to keep it interesting. A lot of comparisons are being made to how some of the older drivers used the attitude card to great effect. Some examples are Dale Earnhart Sr., Darrell Waltrip, Tony Stewart, and a few others. Dale Sr. used the attitude against the other drivers and the fans loved him. Waltrip also had a lot of fans as well as Stewart.
I kind of chuckled when he took out Jr. in the one race though as i knew that wasn't going to work out well. Wrecking the most popular driver in the sport just isn't good even if it might have been unintentional.

turning in one direction for a couple hours isn't very interesting.

I've been to a couple of races in Bristol and had a blast each time.  But thats more to do with the tailgating/drinking/general craziness not so much the racing.  Although it was 50 times better than watching on tv.

Nascar just doesn't do anything for me on TV, same thing with drag racing.

I wholeheartedly agree that watching NASCAR in person is better than watching it on TV. I love the smell of racing fuel in the air. It smells like.....victory! :rock

Other than drag racing, everyone races in circles.

Some circles are just a lot more interesting than 3-4 left hand turns

And some of us like seeing drivers drive the car and not the other way around.

Indeed.  But passing will always make a better race no matter what shape the track is.
