Most of you are missing out on the best aspect of AH
« on: June 18, 2001, 12:40:00 PM »
Friday nights snap shot had 2 frames (lasting about 1 hour each) and had an astounding 60 participants!  Historic terrain, historic A/C...while 140 played in the main...

Sat. it was repeated for convenience of all time schedules, not sure how many were on, I was at an airshow...

Sunday, again, another great time in Check Six, with unlimited lives, field capture, roughly 40 online for the weekly Check Six event, large selection of historic plane types including perk planes that we could fly for free...meanwhile, 120 were in the Main...sad indeed!

If you're staying in the Main during these precious 7 hours a week they run these things, then you're missing out on half the fun, just ask those that 'were there'....

Saturday the allies bombed the secret weapons of the LW.  Two bases were distroyed and the V-program was set back!!
If you know you were there, if ya don't well......be there next time!!!

I was with a bomber group lead by toad.  We had a blast, no radar made looking for dots after a climb out a nail biting experience.  We got through and delivered our tonnage distroying the 4 bomber hangers housing the V weapons.

Upon landing it was time to partake of Mexican food so didn't get a chance to play the second frame.

What happen in the second frame?

Allies kicked butt in the second frame too.

"Why??" you may ask.. well; it's because we're evil; devious opportunists.  :D

Outside of that, we had Snorkey and 56th FG leadin a group of P47-D11's that dominated the air over the target. There WAS no LW by the time our buffs come on target.  :)

 :D

I agree. I was especially impressed by the professionalism and excellence of the guy who CM'ed Saturday afternoon. He is the pinnacle of perfection. A big <S> to him.

 :)

Seriously, we have as much fun hosting as you guys do flying, with the influx of the historical terrains, these events will steadily grow.

Fish I think if you check the logs you'll see Friday was a split.

The Allies, using typical Bish tactics in Frame 1, didn't even know what the buff targets were or where they were located. We got slaughtered. Doesn't pay to launch without knowing what you're doing.  ;) Even so, the Axis lost 19 aircraft while downing 13 Allied aircraft.

In Frame 2, 4 out of 5 hangars went down and the Axis lost 18 aircraft while only downing 9 Allied planes.

In short, in Frame 2 you got a  big time whuppin'.

Frames 3 & 4 were Allied all the way as has been pointed out.

Just keeping the record straight.  :D

Agree the most fun you can have in A/H,IMHO.

Bob Dobbs/mrfish,friday's 1st frame the allies were a little disorganized, but made up for it in the 2nd frame.  :p   I was with rraf in P47-11's as bait trying to lead some of the LW fighters away from the bomber ingress area in the 2nd frame. We were at 25k and all of a sudden 10-12 109s about 33k spotted us.It looked great as they came in to look us over and the pucker factor went way up!We made it out somehow, and after I landed,my mind kept replaying the missions for quite a while(well into the night)!  :D

Ripsnort is right on. This is the most fun you'll probably have on Aces High.

I would just like to see another weeknight set aside for these Snapshot events as weekends are really tough for a number of pilots.

Life gets better every day here in Aces High Land.

Toad, only because you guys didn't follow historical procedures of a buff formation, by bringing in a a couple low, then a couple high, and a couple over there, you took advantage of something they historically couldn't do.. :)

Besides, the first frame is the one that counts, the 2nd frame the loser simply makes adjustments, as Allied did... ;)

They call that "tactics". Historically, they changed them as necessary.

So, we're only going to play 1 Frame from now on?

Hehe, well, given enough time, you could have brought them in from the East instead of west, with no radar  ;)  You didn't bring em right down the middle, because you knew the Axis pilots would eat them, and the P47's for lunch...just admit it!  ;)

Another good tactic is bringing in the bombers 1.5 hours into the frame.. Just run the LW outta gas. Gosh, wish I thought of that.
