TOD mission for this Thursday/Saturday...

This week's missions are titled "Yamamoto's Revenge.  The premise is that General Douglas MacArther is planning a tour of his forward bases in the Southwest Pacific theater, accompanyied by Gen George Kenny (Mac's Air Force commander) and many of both offices' key staff.  They are travelling in two B-26 Marauders, escorted by newly arrived P-47 Thunderbolts.  Their itinerary is secret, but unbeknownst to them, the General's house-boy is actually a Japanese spy and obtains fairly accurate information on the trip.

The Japanese, still seething from the loss of Yamamoto to Yankee treachery (from their point of view), set in motion an elaborate plan to get their revenge on two of the chief achitects of their stinging defeats in New Guinea and the Solomons.  A cargo submarine sets up a temporary rough airstrip on the coast of a tiny island along MacArther's route.  The put ashore a stash of aviation fuel and a platoon of men to assist in the refueling of the Japanese fighters to carry out the strike.  Even with this refueling santuary, the aircraft will be on a one-way trip.

The Japanese take some of their best pilots and put them in some of their best aircraft, the newly (and barely) operational N1K2.  While the pilot's selected have pledged to kill MacArther or die trying, the Japanese wish to recover the pilots if at all possible. These men will be living heros to the populace back home, and have great propaganda value.  Thus, a second submarine will be on station at a specified location, ready to pick up the surviving pilots, who will ditch nearby.

____________________

The Allied route and timetable will be available to the Japanese, but they will not know which of the two aircraft Mac and Kenny will be in.  For their part, the Allied escort will not know where the enemy is coming from, and all radar will be disabled for the Allies but not for the Japanese.  To survive the scenario, the Japanese pilots will have to make it to a pre-designated spot on the ocean and successfully ditch.  I will need two to four non-TOD pilots to man the B-26s (pilots and gunners preferably).

Warchild: Yes, I owe everyone a complete update on their status.  I must admit I've fallen a bit behind on the paperwork.  I'll get it posted as soon as I can, so that everyone can cross-check it.  When I do, it will be up to the pilots to let me know if I've made an error.  I've tried to keep accurate mission logs, but haven't received an AAR from every pilot for every missions.  If you got a kill but never gave me an AAR, I may have missed recording it.
