Spice up CV action.
« on: June 11, 2008, 01:48:17 AM »
Ok guys heres an idea,

Now the way CV action usually goes ends up with a F4U/F6F vulch fest with ord.

to spice it up a little and to get various different planes made with the fun factor increased.  My wish is to have 3 different nationality task groups that rotate which type of CV spawns from a port.

US only planes
JP only planes
Brit only planes.

Then say 2 groups come across each other at sea we have torpedo bombers from the relevant countries going at it rather than people picking the best tool for the job.

We'd need more planes (refer to my other wishlist post) and here is how I think HTC would do it.

Each Task Group form each country would be unique in it's own way. If it were British for example, it will be strong, durable, harder to take out, but less guns on it. If it were Japanese, it would be easier to take out, but a whole lot more guns, American, well, it could be a perfect medium I guess... Thats just how I see it

I like your idea, but we need the Fairy Swordfish, Blackburn Skua, that other plane I put up on the wishlist (cant remember the name right now...), and a different model of Seafire if it were to be British.  Just my opinion though

yea I realise more plane options would be needed thats why I suggested the idea.  ;)

The way it is now there wouldnt really be any point in adding a load of weird and wonderful sea planes.

so how many Brit CV planes do we have at the moment?
Hang on... I've lost count, I have to start again....
:rofl
How much did British CV planes suck in WII? The Seafire is the top of the tree. The country with the US planes would totally pwn any of the rest.
I pity the poor Brits though. A flight of B5N's could pwn a British fleet

I think a sea hurri and seafire would hold their own in a pure dogfight against any Jp or Us based cv plane (except maybe f4u4).

For ords of course the US guys would have an advantage.  You could make the British cruiser fire quicker representing the standards of the RN.

The Japanese and brit planes would have to perfect torpedo bombing.

The US cv's are meant to be better because they were.

Im sure we used some US planes aswell like the martlet (f4f4 i think) just called it something different.  Come to think of it even the f6f has a british skin!!!

Hellcats were rare in the RN.

More likely to see the Wildcats (Martlets), Corsairs & Avengers (Tarpons).

Would mind seeing the British get the BARRACUDA.   :aok

Yes, but we get the Seafire.  Enough said.  The US carrier planes may be cool, but unless it's a B-25 you're not gonna beat the Seafire any time this millennium (or the last one, for that matter).
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?

The firefly would be nice to have.  Though it can't do anything the f4uc can't do better except perhaps turning circle.

The FAA flew a variety of planes as jester mentioned accepting anything they could get their hands on,primarily because of the focus of design and production of aircraft for RAF fighters and bombers.

Juicing up the seafire IIc to a seafire L III (by far the most common varient) would be nice.

The Firefly would be an effective airplane. I'd love to see it in the game.

How about HTC introducing a small escort carrier? Planeset would be restricted to the lighter fighters (A6Ms, F4Fs and Seafires) and bombers (SBD, TBM, Kate, Val). Each country would have a mix of normal and escort carrier fleets depending on terrain size. Maybe the escort CV fleets could have an extra cruiser to beef them up.

Taking a field from an escort CV would be a lot more of a challenge. It would give the carrier bombers a real role to play in the MA as they have no advantage over a heavy F4U or F6F at present. And yes I realise F6Fs and F4Us were sometimes operated from escort carriers in RL.
