bailing out..
« on: June 15, 2008, 12:16:54 PM »
Have you people ever realized that when you bail, it's ALWAYS a perfect bail out, no matter what, even when you hit the tail/wing of the airplane. I'm thinking of a new damage section, the canopy. if the canopy is damaged, you can't bail out. If you repeatedly press bail out, there might be a chance of success in bailing. But even when you do manage to get out of the plane, if you hit any part of the airplane, wings, tails, (my favorite) propeller, you get instant death.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Yea that's wierd. In A-20s (or A-26s, not too sure) when you'd bail out, the tail was so big, it would hit ya and kill you.

you wouldn't know there was a big red bail out button from the way some ride there planes to the ground. Almost every night I see one or two get shot down and like the captain of a ship they stay with there plane all the way to there death.

Holding the trigger down the whole way, no less. :huh

angelsandair, I'm not sure about this, but at the time when you pass the tail of an A-20 after bailing out, I wouldn't think that the relative speed between you and the plane would be enough to kill you.  Of course, this would all depend on your position.

Holding the trigger down the whole way, no less. :huh

What's wrong with that?  If I think I'm too low to bail out successfully, I'll always hold my trigger down.

I think we should have a sound of the glass breaking when you bail out if its been damaged there, and your thing is stuck. Plus we should add another system to the list when you press control plus d. Like eject system, and if a bullet hits (RARE) it won't work, so obviously your stuck? Or you break through glass and use that cool glass breaking noise?  :lol ;)

Time spent floating down in a chute is better spent getting airborne in another fighter... Ride it to the ground and waste less time.

That's a pretty simple keystroke... :huh
In case you didn't know, <enter><enter><enter> bails you out, 'o' opens your chute, and /.ef is the . command equivalent of opening your keyboard and hitting end sortie.

You can skip the opening your chute part.  <enter><enter><enter>.ef<enter>

Im just thinking out loud here... but it might be kind of neat to have to set up the bail out to avoid hitting the airframe.

In other words, instead of just tapping a key three times and being teleported out of the A/C, maybe allow the process to take a few seconds longer (open canopy, release belts, etc) and encourage negative elevator input prior to the bail by killing the pilot if he strikes the vertical stab?

Dunno... good idea?  Bad idea?
