Weather (WX) Report for July 9, 1945

Weather report for Rhine county region for 0700Z July 9, 1945.

A low front has moved into the region, bringing poor visibility with gusting winds. Pilots are urged caution when taking off and landing from cross-winds. Visibility less than 7 miles, winds gusting 5 knots from the north-northwest. Clouds variable. Overcast.

Next weather update July 11.

Skies clear. Visibility greater than 9 miles. Clouds scattered 10000. Scattered 12000. Surface winds light at 2knots.

 I am enjoying the realism of the weather Mr Fork, although it does make for some tense moments during calibration and lining, but I have a question, is it factored into the game that the winds affect to path of the released bombs? I have tried to factor the winds into my releases and on other drops have totally disregarded the winds while dropping and I think I get better results when I pay no attention to the wind during the drop.

If you set your Norden errr bombing computer correctly (altitude, 2+second calibration) you can nail anything in any wind. HOWEVER - keep in mind that any post-calibration movements, even in bombsight mode, because of the winds, will impact precision.  I even missed a few targets in my Ardo last night - first time I had only 30% accuracy in around 5 years of AH bombing. :D

OldBull, the old manual bombsight used in the AvA calculates the wind drift but as Fork says, if you change course, speed or altitude, it's porked. Still, I prefer it to using the MA style site, also used in the SEA. With that sight you need to use good old Kentucky windage to account for wind.

btw, you are exceeding frustrating at 32K vs my 109.  :salute

Ty Easy,I may be cheap but I try not to be easy, my priority is to get my load to target then I welcome  all comers.
