After Years & Years of Dial-up...
« on: July 11, 2008, 07:38:31 AM »
FINALLY, after putting up with lag, many discos, redials, and just plain old 49.2 to 52kpbs (on good days ) for the 12 years I've lived in Eastern Oregon (a.k.a "nowhere"), we actually have DSL now. Now you buggers will have an easier time swatting my plane out of the sky without my ISP doing it for you. :D

Cool, wtg thunder.  When are you thinking of upgrading your spectrum 48k? :D  Oh and how are things?  haven't seen you in a while.

everything's relative I guess.........because I remember playing air warriors on aol and those with 33.3 modems used to be jealous of the cats who had 56k........ but somehow we all flew and it worked.  I can't even imagine going back to that know...after being used to this...it would be like black and white tv all over again.

Congrats Thundarr! I keep getting junk mail from Embarq wanting me to sign up for DSL. When I tried to sign up they told me DSL is not available in my area, no fiberoptics. I asked when it would be installed and was told "at this time we have no plans to upgrade in your area". :furious

Congrads from a fellow dial-upper! (They ran cable to within a MILE of my house...due to pole configuration and Cox's new contract with county, doubt that it will go any further) My modem got zapped, am in the process of trying out 4-5 units from Newegg to see which one can hit the 40's and 200-ish ping...always a crap shoot. (We MAY get some sort DSL-type stuff in next couple years I'm told....not holding my breath)

How well I know that feeling. Very frustrating. Last night was the first time playing AH with my new DSL. Could be just me, but it seemed my gunnery was spot on in my B26's. (Just ask the 3 smoking 190's that chased me out of a Rook base :D) I hope you get better net soon, Bj.
