Well if you get him started now, maybe one day he'll be like these guys and be making a ton of money. Just remind him on occasion who got him his first set :rock

*smile* that's awesome.

Only thing is...we're making him pay for half :) So I'm sure that I won't be able to effectively nudge him about where he got his first set. :)

You don't read Modern Drummer to often, I guess.  He's only been on the cover about 6 times as drummer of the year.

You know, I haven't been reading my Modern Drummer lately, I often wonder why I even subscribe?  I guess I'm to busy reading Modern Basketweaver, Modern Doorknob fixer, and Modern Other things irrelevant to my life.  I went ahead and googled it, saw he was the drummer for Dream Theater (which explains why I didn't know who he is).  I remember way back in the day when Nikki Sixx was voted Bassist of the year several times by Metal Magazines, so whatever that is worth.

In an un-drum related note, last year I sold a guitar my Grandfather had given me.  He was a very gifted player (only had 4 fingers on this fretting hand).  It was a MINT 1961 Les Paul SG.... One sweet piece of musical hardware.

This is wise statement

I'm a guitarist, but I have a set of pearls myself.

What type of guitar do you have Skyrock? I usually keep it cheap, so I mostly have 200-400$$ guitars (IMO the best way to go, a 2k $$ gibson wont get you anywhere).

Got me 4 Electric guitars, 1 Bass, and 2 acoustics  :rock

its drumming, if he's gets even remotely competent at it, he'll never be lacking opportunities in local bands.

This is true but I got to see GodSmack live here in Virginia Beach and see that drum duel live and it kicked prettythang!! Only one I've seen other than that one that even came close was Trans Siberian Orchestra this past winter up in Hampton and that show rocked!!!

You just have to love a great drum solo or drum duel. It gets the crowd pumped up!!!! :rock
