We can't disable manned guns and I really do not think we can adjust the alt on puff ack. I would love to be proven wrong on both trust me.

To add to all of that.........

I don't want this taken as a whine.  Trust me, if I plan on whining, it will be well thought out, researched, and posted in such a long fashion that it will put you to sleep.

For a "free for all" type arena (which it is right now?) to just have some fun until the next setup, it really blows to be sniped by 5" guns in the middle of a good fight.  Especially, when the habit is (on both sides here, not pointing fingers) to stay near the ack, which is only a natural reaction.  Also to dodge puffy ack when fighting above 3K is also a bit annoying.  I know the inherent risks involved with chasing someone into he ack, but to be singled out by some yahoo in a 5" gun (some of whom I have never even seen take to the air) is silly.

If this were a situation where there were objectives, or a plan, and CV's were part of the plan, then I wouldn't even be mentioning it.

Conversely, I am as equally pissed if a friendly does the same thing to someone that I am fighting.

I know that there is a DA for this, blah blah blah, but the caliber of the fights in the AvA has traditionally always been a bit higher.

Von I agree with you but what if some random guy is vulching a field or a CV?  Is it okay to jump into a gun position and dispatch them then?

I know what you're saying and believe me I'm not trying to stir up a bunch of nonsense that's not needed just asking what the general consensus is.

A bit different when you are talking 37mm AAA vs 5 inch proximity rounds. Even I can hit with the 5 incher :D

Totally OK.   :aok

It's the guy sniping you (or my countryman sniping the other guy)  while we are enjoying ourselves in a good fight that I am talking about.  Especially when there aren't any objectives, per se, in the arena at the time.

Someone ruining a good fight for no reason except to ruin it is the best way I can describe it.

Like pissing in someone's Cheerio's.

ty sir...

That would be the only time you'd see me in a gun position is if someone is vulching or attempting to torp the CV.

...er...I'm missing something here (nothing new about that).  The carrier fleets are literally right off the Japanese coast; my time to the fights last night was never more than three minutes or so.  The aircraft bases are actually much closer together.

You are right oldman.. the 2 carriers I saw were just off the coast.  I assumed the rest were out to sea  after reading guys complain about long flight times.   sorry.  :o

Just the USAAF birds have long flight times Vater.

The Navy birds are near the coast.

OM is right of course, this map is way too small to allow both side to have land bases on Japan.  ;)

After thinking about it for awhile, it seemed to me that Shifty is correct.  The original ROF setup is historically accurate, but for ordinary playability purposes it effectively eliminates USAAF aircraft.  So far as I know, no one has ever organized an escorted bomber raid from one of the air starts, which was the original hope.

So:  Last night I got a few minutes, logged in, changed some of the mainland bases to Allied and logged out, dumping the problem squarely in the laps of Duke and Stampf.  What a guy, eh?  There's no base capture (except I still can't figure how A3 switched hands twice), so there shouldn't be any need to worry about off-hours porking.

Try it for a day, we can always change it back.

I wasn't trying to be right OM,I just trying to be a smarta**. Thanks for the changes. We'd be glad to escort a bombing raid. I think the Avengers and us are on different squadnights though.
