I agree that those wind speeds are not particularly bad, but any hurricane has the potential to spawn tornados and huge storm surge.

My biggest issue with this is that nobody has commented on the name...Dolly?  I mean I got all kinds of grief over Fabian, and not one mention of this one named DOLLY?

You people are getting soft on me.

Culero...I hope the nipple...errr...the eye misses you.

Well looks like it's getting close to hitting good luck with the storm hope you don't get much damage. I've been through more than my share of Hurricanes so I know none of them are ever much fun.

It bobbled a little to the north as it hit the coast, now looks like the storm center will pass about 15-20 miles to my north rather than 15-20 miles to my south (in Mexico) as predicted yesterday. That will mitigate the potential for wind damage here because that's ranch country - the mesquite trees can handle it :)

Well it's the day after, how goes it? News here in Virginia shows that Padre Island got the crap beat out of it.

There's a weather board I lurk on (http://stormboard.proboards79.com/index.cgi?) which is sort of a weather hobbyist/social club/ year long hurricane party.

Well two of the gurus over there decided to make hurricane Dolly their first storm chase. It interesting to watch how their adventure went very wrong. Yesterday morning they were giving storm reports on IPR radio (thats redundant?), and this morning they are are in a shelter, minus a car, waiting for their moms to come pick them up!

See, people never listen to that "don't try this at home" advice.

Unless he's got access to a sattelite hookup I doubt we will hear from Culero for a while. Hope he rode it out ok.
