Quote
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Russia has become an autocracy under Vladimir Putin and the Russian president-turned-prime minister has taken the country down a "very harmful" path, Republican presidential candidate John McCain said Sunday.

"We need to improve their behavior," McCain told ABC television when asked about his threat to exclude Russia from the Group of Eight if he wins the White House in November.

"His government -- former president Putin, and now Prime Minister Putin -- has taken his country down a path that I think is very harmful," McCain said. "They've become an autocracy."

"In the last week or so, look at Russia's actions," he added. "They cut back on their oil supplies to the Czechs, because the Czechs made an agreement with us. They have now thrown out -- or forced out -- BP out of Russia.

"They continue to put enormous pressures on Georgia in many ways. They're putting pressure on Ukraine. They are blocking action in the United Nations Security Council on Iran," McCain said.

"We want better Russian behavior internationally, and we have every right to expect it," he said. "And I will do what I can to see that they reverse many of the behavior patterns which have really been very unhelpful to peace in the world."

Is this guy for real?!

Can a mentally disabled person be elected for US president? Do they have some kind of mental health test for candidates?

Same old boroda.

Just for starters, go check out your boy Nikita "We will bury you" Khrushchev.

Not to come to Beard's rescue or anything, but Khruschev's 'we'll bury you' line is perhaps the most misinterpreted soundbyte of the cold war. His real intentions for this phrase were nowhere near as ominous as he made it sound--more like a prognosis of how the superpowers' economies are destined to interact, and which one was destined to prevail.

He was wrong, of course, both in his prognosis as well as in his delivery. Beating the shoe was another bold, ill advised move.

Overall, I'd say that Khruschev suffered more from stupidity than he did from insanity, and there are many Russians that still view him as an embarassment to the nation.

There is one thing you have to understand about American politics, Boroda. You see, this is an election year here in the U.S. Right now, you have all the candidates running around all over the country, making promises' and expressing viewpoints' and saying all kinds of rubbish which they might or might not be serious about. Many times, stuff like this is just wash to win over votes, just so they can claim the office. After that, They take an agenda which was pretty much hidden from the voters' before they took the oath of office.

Russias fifth column is progressing nicely and given that Obama wins this next election within one or two decades Putin will be able to easily march in and take over to absolutely no resistance.

I don't think you understand how there would be no "winner" in a war of that size.  Not much would be left to claim.  Grow up a bit and think about it.

Look back at 1962, when that almost happened. Who backed down then? Who would back down now? The same country :D

Putin was a former KGB agent, I dont know why the people of Russia would elect him unless it was rigged who knows. Communism sucks, plain and simple.
