You work for Piper? At least I think they are still based there.

No.  Piper has not had a plant there since 1985.  It was however the production plant for the navajo and larger twin line.  I happen to work for an avionics company based there.

According to historical information, the 448th Bomb Group (Heavy)-B24J Liberators were activated at Gowen Field in Boise, Idaho, 60 miles SE of my location.

Half an hour away was an airbase, where RAF aircraft went sub-hunting as early as 1940.
In one of their first flight they actually captured a German Submarine. It was only one aircraft that got it done to submission, the RN took over as soon as they were there.+
BTW, our local church was taken over by the Brits and used as a place for possible wounded and various stores.
Without any trouble ;)
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

I live within 12 miles of Chino Air Park where the famous museum is of WW2 aircraft , and 2 miles from an old Home Depot Store that was an aircraft plant in Fullerton , Ca. although I'm not sure what they built , but its 3 stories deep in the ground  with heavy re-enforced floors and other odd structerial stuff all around .
Don't be afraid to put it out there , if it gets cut off it'll grow back

I live in San Diego.  We have 32nd St. Naval Station.  Across the bay there's Coronado Island Air Station where the Carriers tie up.  A little south west, in the same bay, is the Submarine Base.  Then there's Mira Mar Marine Air Station 10 miles to the north and Camp Pendelton Marine Base 50 miles north of San Diego.

No country in it's right mind would attack San Diego.

I live in Virgina Beach. Within 30 miles of here we have the Norfolk Naval Base, Little Creek amphib base, Oceana Naval Air Station, Damn Neck Naval Station, Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Ft Monroe, Ft Eustis, Ft Story, Langley AFB, Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown, Coast Guard Integrated Support Command Portsmouth (Six medium endurance cutters and a bunch of smaller craft) Coast Guard 5th District Command Center, CIA Training Center Yorktown "The Farm", and just down the road in NC we have Blackwater International HQ.

We could take San Diego if we wanted too :D

(Image removed from quote.)

Until 1984 the 10th was based out of Camp Hale in Colorado.

I live ON training grounds that General George S. Patton Jr. used to run maneuvers on during World War II. As the crow flies, the sign noting that is about a mile from my back door. We have historical signs all over the state. This whole area was also a major battleground during the Civil War (known around here as the "War of Northern Aggression :t ). The military sciences building at the local college (MTSU) was the one at the center of all the controversy recently because some little twit wanted General Nathan Bedford Forrest's name removed. REJECTED, and also DENIED!  :t

I used to live near the former Lowry AFB where they did Norton bomb site testing in WW2.
