I'm curious what the opinion is of everyone on etiquette when it comes to naming a squadron.  I have not been flying AH long, but feel fortunate to have hooked up with a good squad that has been around for a few years, Twinbooms 39th FS "Cobra in the Clouds".  Last night in Titanic Tuesday I noticed there is a new squad named 39th FS Pursuit Squadron.  Is this bad form?  Considering the 39th is based on an actual squadron that flew in WWII should there be more than 2?  Again, just looking for opinions.

to me, it seems in poor form. very poor. it also sounds like someone's tryin to piss off TB, and his squad......or they think they're pissing ON them.....either way, there's probably nothing anyone can do, with the exception of ostricizing the offending squadron.

it's a cryng shame that grown men and women stoop to these levels in here. this is such a good sim......

Yea, thats our new squadron. We didn't know there was another 39th FS squadron. :salute We proceeded to change our name quickly. Sorry for the mix up. Odbal, you're taking this very seriously, you should have PM'd me, TwinTail (Pips), or 321Bar about this instead of bringing it here. I did not mean to make a 2nd fighter squadron as I did not know.

We're now the 40th FS 'Fightin' Red Devils' (God, I hope there isnt another one of those...)

Cool, thanks Angels.  I didn't think it was done out of spite which is why I was asking opinion's instead of flaming and attempting to start a flame war.  Good luck to you.  :salute

I recognize the squads name.  Think they've been around for at least a few months.

3 months is 1.71 dog years  :P

Our squadron isn't here to start anything with any other players or squads. We're just here to have fun like anyone else. I learned of the problem today (must have been afk last night because I didn't know then)

Please odball, pass my apology to TwinBoom or PM me his Email address so I can do it myself.

Oh and Wingnutt, mind your own damn buisness, this wasn't even a real problem with another squad.

Luftmorder's original squad name was Blut Und Ehre (meaning Blood And Honor).  It was the inscription on the Nazi Youth dagger.  It pissed off one person and we were forced to change it.

I didn't even know there was another 39th Fighter Squadron. I had no intention to make anyone mad at all.
