After years of delays I am finally starting my simpit.
I have been researching for 2 years both stationary and motion based sim pits to enhance the virtual flying experience. From Aker barnes to the viper-pit I have looked at all of them. The best one on the market in my opinion is the dreamflyer
http://www.mydreamflyer.com/. This is great if you have 2800 us dollars burning a hole in your pocket.
I have decided to build a stationary pit that I can add on enhancements as time progresses.
The hardest part, for me anyway was the project launch. I do not have tools or time to begin a woodworking project, I needed something pre-fabricated that I could assemble. I purchased plans a year ago from a company called kwikpit but never went any further. That same company now offers the kwikpit kit
http://www.kwikpit.com/kwikpit_kit.htm. For 169 us dollars less shipping I ordered one that should be here next week. I think this is a brilliant idea because it gives instant gratification that I can customize as time and money permits. I will gladly post pictures of my project as it progresses.
Long term goals will be to simulate as close to the cockpit of a P47 thunderbolt as I can get. This will include all flight controls and switches in proper positions. I am also hoping that some day HTC will enable multiple monitor support that will allow a separate output for airplane instruments. There are many flight programs that offer this today.
Wish me luck gents <S>.
