Indestructable panzer
« on: August 12, 2008, 10:30:53 AM »
I along with about 3 others filmed a panzer who was smoking, driving around and shooting. He took over 20 direct hits to the engine and turret from my tigr from 20ft away and also 30+ hits from sethbag's t34. Where do I send the film?
Stodd/ CandyMan
I don't get why you even typed that, you know it's stupid.

What was frustrating was that the guy knew he was bugged, knew he should be dead and that he was unkillable, and yet he was still able to shoot and kill us, and did so.  Finally he drove off and had guys chasing him down.  I got a hold of another rook who had been fighting at the same vbase and asked him to please tell the other guy to tower out because he was bugged, and Stodd actually changed sides to rook just so he could tell the guy himself.  Finally Stodd got the other guy to reply, and the dude said he didn't want to tower out because he was unwilling to "give" a kill to one of us.  Give?  Give?!?  Between all of us who were there, the guy must have taken over 100 rounds at ranges from 15 to 50 feet or so.

I think this is the same network-related glitch that allows planes to fly around with no wings and whatnot.  I don't think this Panzer guy was cheating, just bugged.  But once it's clear that you're bugged, you have a duty to tower out and not exploit that bug.  This Panzer guy got a handful of kills after it was known, or should have been known, that he was bugged.

Did he spawn at a base that was under attack and captured by your side? Just curious if that bug is still around.

I have seen this before it was rather funny 20 or so tanks surrounding 1 Panzer. He must have picked up 10 or more proxie kills from every kill shooting themselves.

LOL!!!! a DUTY?????  Its a GAME ! If there was honor and "duty" there would be no spawn camping, dweeb won't take tank town and fight town bases just to piss the other side off, and there would be no HOs. Ya he was stuck in a bug, woop di do ! Send the film in so maybe HTC can catch the glitch, but don't come in and yap about "duty".

Do you really hang out in the Bug Reports forum just looking for opportunities to act like a love muffin?

No it's my Duty in life to point out when some people start taking a game a bit too seriously.

So, when it's just a game, you think that anything goes?

Do you stuff extra Aces up your sleeve when you're playing "just a game" of Poker?

Is it OK to lie and cheat and whatnot when it's just a game?

I'm just wondering.  In my mind, this may be a game, but we're also part of an online community, and we owe it to the community not to cheat, not to exploit bugs, not to do things that lessen the value of the game for the owners, etc.

What are you 12? Your dealing with a game played by real people in the real world, yes there are many people that play poker with an ace up there sleeve, there are people that will see you drop a 10 out of your pocket and then pick it up and walk away. Some people have no scruples, and winning is everything. Bending the rules is just a means to an end for them.

Am I one that is after a score no matter what? nope, couldn't care less. If I found out that I was invincible would I relog to clear the error, nope. I'd run around and be laughing my butt off while everyone tries to kill me. Would I rack up a ton of kills while doing it, most likely not, at least I didn't the last time I fell through a hill. I could have just sat there killing tank after tank, but I only shot just to let them see where I was, best hour of GVing I ever had.

There are a lot of bad people in this world that will use any trick they can to "win". To me, its a game, if you take it to seriously you have a problem. In a case like this, film it send it in to HTC, and move on. Coming on these boards and posting all kinds of crap about so and so isn't going to do anything but cause trouble, for both "so and so" and yourself. Its just a game, nobody takes home the million dollar pot at the end of the night. Let it go.
