Man this is a pig to skin with bits here there and everywhere.I am finding it hard enough
just doing 1 colour.I salute Greebo for his A20 skins  he must be mad doing such a pain in the
butt model :rock.
well this is what i got so far.

I need to work on the bare metal a lot more.

Pain or not I am personally thankful that someone is doing skins other than Spits and Ponys!  Keep up the great work as I do enjoy your skins!

Looks very promising Roger. The tail art is the same as a 90th BG Liberator I did, so I'd guess its from that group.

The A-20G and Boston skins have their good and bad points. The bad is that the cowlings are made up from a dozen little patches, many of which are mirrored to little areas on top and bottom of the wings. For some colour schemes this takes some serious working out. However it shouldn't be too much of a problem on this skin, since the whole thing is just one colour. If the cowlings have anti glare panels, that might be a problem though. Like all old skins you can't play around with material files on the A-20G, so you won't be able to make the metal more reflective.

The good points are that there are a large variety of different schemes for the various A-20s. You have USAAF in all theaters, RAF ETO and MTO, RAAF, VVS summer and winter and French, both Allied and Vichy. Also this skin resides on three 1024 panels instead of the normal one, which means you get around three times the resolution of a modern skin. All the panel lines and rivets etc look a lot more realistically sized and detailed.

BTW Roger, I've emailed you a bmp file mapping the wing bugs. This should help you out.

The Skull & Crossed Bombs emblem on the tail was the markings of the 90th BG (H) "Jolly Rogers."

Never seen it on an A20 before.

That was my thought too Jester.  90th BG tail markings.  I just don't ever remember seeing a combat A20 that was NMF.  90th didn't have combat A20s.  They might have had a War Weary A20 for running errands in.  Then they'd get stripped to bare metal.

Question on the hack planes that were used after combat. Since they did see active combat service & then were stripped of there paint would they still be permitted if they still had been attached to the same squadron?

Wouldn't think so. Most of them had all their guns and (in the case of bomber types) bomb racks removed.

Kinda like the "Formation Aircraft" used by Bomb Groups in the ETO.
