I was up 30k and was happy....then I made some stupid buys.  Why on earth did I buy Ford...geez!

I was telling some near retirees at a family gathering around labor day that by christmas we'll either be in a depression or much larger mess then we are now.  I don't like the bail-out plan but I think it's our only hope right now.

Ok here is probably a stupid question but not sure where to start.  I hear of daytrading and such where you watch stocks and in a matter of minutes literally you can buy and sell and either make or lose.  This winter I will have some time to watch stocks in the daytime as we farm and cant farm too much here in the wintertime.

I checked with scottrade, where I have an account, and they seem to want me to buy something or sell something, and wait like 3 days for the settlement, or they told me I would get some kind of "mark" checked on my account.  If any of y'alls daytrade or at least want to buy today and sell tomorrow, what broker(s) or investment vehicles do you use?

I was thinking of usint the virtual stock exchange and "practice"  a while when the time comes.

Any place that wants to tell you how you make your trades and how long to hold them is not looking out for your best interest.

Making money in the market means being able to buy ans sell when YOU think it's most advantageous to YOU.

They can get lost then.

Got another question or so  here...  I've been watching a company and the price dropped to where it looks attractive to me.  Now, it is around 60 to 70 cents and today the bid price is lower than actual stock price and the ask price is like 20 cents above the actual price.  Why is there such a price disparity on this, and this is not the only one, just decided to try and find out whats what.  And also, who gets the profit so to speak if actual price is 70 cents and ask price is say 90 cents?

Not alot of things going on except people dropping out.  I am sure I can't make the money lost back but will be fun trying to get back to zero!
