Both Pearl and Bodenplatte, it is true, would not be very fun if played in a historically accurate way.
To make a Pearl scenario or a Bodenplatte scenario, we then get into a "what if" scenario.
But there is a limited number of "what if" scenarios we should run, and Pearl is already fleshed out. Also, Pearl has more varied stuff to play around with (more types of planes, more-varied terrain, ships, varied types of targets with varied ships and ground targets, etc.), and so I think it would have more room for different strategies.
Pearl is stalled on terrain, though, so the above difficulties are perhaps moot.
