Flight Plan
« on: August 25, 2008, 02:53:09 PM »
I have never planned a mission, so not sure of how that works, but it occured to me today how cool it would be to set a flight plan before you up with waypoints etc.  I suspect that it will be similar to the mission planner but for individuals, or could be similar to how you set waypoints on the CV.  If you want your wingman to see the waypoints you could then do .planinvite <name> or something similar.  If this is covered by the mission planner (i cant log on atm to check) then i apologise.

I know you can set waypoints. And you can view them by viewing the mission

Not worthy of a separate thread, but i think it would also be quite cool if high ranking peeps could set high priority areas on the map which would then appear on everyone elses in that country - could be used to show where to make offensives with arrows.  For those that really don't care, this could be toggled like the radar range etc.

That has been suggested before and still sounds interesting. Sure would add to some more immersion on the part of base-gangers.

Good ideas (except that I have to wonder what kinds of interesting and obscene things people could spell by abusing these features, too).

Well, I don't think you would be able to spell anything by highlighting a base or by pressing a button to have a computer-generated arrow point at the base which can not be rotated by players. I do, however, understand your concern about the flight plans.

What happens when the 50 generals online at the time all have their own arrows?  The map would look like some sort of Madden play diagram from hell. :)

I would think you'd show such battle plans the same way missions are displayed now.  Description and author.

Pick the map you want and it displays on your clipboard.

Not sure if this request got by me before, but I like it.

lol yeah, guess you would have to limit how much information was displayed.  I guess you could also limit who has control of strategy by taking command like the current CV situation.

All of the information for the person in command of strategy could be set by going to the HQ building - could even have additional information on the progress of the war there, percentage of people flying where , percentage in air, what the enemy (known enemy using radar bars/dots) are doing etc.

Would make rank mean a bit more, and possibly add another aspect to the game.

With the flight plans, it would be for each person only so only they would see it, only people who you invite to join the flight would then see it also.

I think the rank suggestion will be more likely to appear with the birth of CT. By the way, anyone think its time for a C-Section?

Rank does not directly correlate with knowing squat about strateegery ... or anything for that matter.

Yup... but if you read the above i have also allowed people like us who don't give a damn about strategy the choice to turn it off... :D

Yummy snacks, just sit there and cherrypick what you want to eat.  Now imagine them with red icons above saying "LA7" heading in the directions of strat arrows  :devil
