Next Step In the Curve ?
« on: August 27, 2008, 10:38:44 AM »
I'm an Old time flight simmer.  I flew online so long ago I can't remember the progams names but one had relaxed realism and it's all I flew.  So I never really developed good skills that you can utilize here with Aces High II.  I have however been putting quite a bit of time in now for the last 4 weeks in the Dueling Arena. I think I am learning better SA in there for sure. I get about a 50-50 mix of kills to deaths now.  I like flying the Niki with the amount of Cannons, it really allows me to spray the lead around and get a better feel for gunnery but I found when I jump in the spits or almost any other plane you need to wait till your much closer and not waste the shots..
It does seem that this point on the learning curve is where I am stuck at...one on ones with just about any other type plane I can tell right after the 2nd merge I'm toast by watching them gain the advantage.  F4U's F6F's even P47's 190's 109's  some seem to do similiar manuevers others totally no idea how they do it.  I then hop in a the plane type that just shot me down twice and I can't even get close to a shot on anybody......how do I make some appointments with trainers and or get some advise here on how to move past my flat spot on the learning curve.  Thanks.

You can go to the Training Arena anytime you want.  If a trainer isn't there at the time, there are usually a couple of regulars who can help with various levels of BFM and/or ACM.

There are also some open training sessions, see the schedule at: http://www.netaces.org/calendar/ahtacalendar.php

You can also contact a trainer directly, to set up a time for a personal lesson: http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/roster/roster.htm

For general training items, the Trainer's homepage has links to much good info: http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/, as does Hammer's NetAces homepage: http://www.netaces.org/

Visit the TA regularly. Wont take long to find out their basic schedule on when there is a Trainer present or not.
You can also email them through Trainers AT hitechcreations DOT com, adress despammed- of course use @ and . in there, and you should get a reply. In your email give a general idea of what you want to do and importantly times you are available and can make an appointment.

Please remember, they are volunteers and sometimes real life can interrupt this.
Usually there are very helpful people at Bishop A1 and you can get information and help from them. Any idiots who spoil your fun there make a note, film or screenshots, and send to Murdr or Skuzzy to deal with.

Oops, guess I typed to slowly, 2 replies in the mean time.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

The best thing you can do is keep asking for 1v1's. Flying in that furball lake will get you nowhere.

But here's what you do, when you get a 1v1, try to get a nice running conversation going, at least in private PM's, preferably in voice.

When I was near that hurdle in the development process you're talking about, I learned a lot about 1v1 from listening to what other more experienced players told me I was doing wrong.

If you can get with a trainer, great. But even when trainers are unavailable, there are plenty of skilled pilots who will beat you up but then be willing to help you through it. Just make sure you are talking to them throughout, not just a Good Fight and Salute and then logging off.
