Nice furball tonight
« on: September 01, 2008, 12:56:28 AM »
There was a nice furball tonight between 212 and 213 in orange, nits vs rooks.  For the most part all the fighting was under 5k ft, and dead center between the airfields.  Even I stayed low most of the time, :P only going higher to escape a couple bandits with the climbrate of my rocket ship that's disguised as an airplane.  Admittedly, we knights did try to capture 213 a couple hours ago when someone had to tool-shed the hangars; but then both sides let the radar stay up  and began to duke it out.  The highlight of the fight was watching krusty zoom around in his 262 asking everyone where steve was. :D

Excellent, today was great from 8am when I started to 1am when I logged. Something very strange happened that almost never happens except on small maps. People didn't evaporate after receiving a blistering bare bottom spanking. Instead of fleeing, with toys in hand, 15 sectors away to an undefended base. The forces arrayed against each other gave an even greater effort. This created several very fun tug-of-war type battles that lasted hours between fields. It was the most fun I've had on a HUGE map since, at the insistence of my Physician, I stopped shooting 3 Tequila shots after each kill. :rock

I passed over a p51d that was running through the fight at high speed repeatedly, and just as I flew over it heard steve say something about a 262 on ch.200, so I was wondering if he meant me or not?

Your memory of the alts if in error. 90% of the bad guys (non-knits) were coming in at 15k and diving into the furball.

To me the highlights include 2 p51ds in wingman formation diving from 20k+ onto my <12k 262 and one of them following me into a dive and augering into a ridge I passed over. Giving me a free proxy  :D

And they (the highlights) include counting no less than 30 HO passes from EVERYBODY and ANYBODY despite the fact that I was mostly ineffective and not much of a threat to anybody. Oh, and 30 counts the last one which rammed me and killed me (the ram, not the enemy fire)

All 262's not attacking FH/HQ dropping Buffs are griefers!

I think the griefers he was referring too...were the nits that dropped the FHs, BHs and VH...but failed to take the field.  VH upped and we cleared cap quickly...got some planes in the air and shot down 4 goons...as their cover ran away.  was quite fun to stop the base take.

Yup, there was one turreted wirbel near the map room that no one could kill because all the bombs/rockets were already used (he still had his hull gun aimed at the map room).  Troops had to hold off until someone finally brought a bomb, and then the town guns started popping.  It was sloppy.  It would've been better to just let the fight continue.

I was in Orange for a short bit. There was a huge horde of rook or knits coming to the base. I upped an WW and had a field day on all the pickers dime.
