Obviously.... the problem is, abstinence only education, which Palin supports, obviously does not work. I mean, if there was a case where it was going to, it would have been here.

Abstinence only is no less valid, and no less effective, than free condoms. The problem is teenagers like to do a lot of things that they have no business doing, but they do them anyway because they think they are invincible.

Teenagers love alcohol. Showing them all sorts of movies with blood and gore from alcohol related accidents doesn't stop them. Hell, seeing their own friends mangled bodies doesn't stop them.

This is only an issue at all because the Democrats desperately need to make an issue of it. Some teenagers, out of every group of any size, are going to have unprotected sex regardless of how they are raised and educated.

Ding! Ding! and now here we have the winner. The entire reason this is a big deal is because of this very fact right here.

No, the only reason this MIGHT be a big deal is because some Democrats desperately NEED it to be a big deal, and will try their damnedest to MAKE a big deal of it. And you are one of them.

Actually Obama told the press to back off the issue and to leave it alone. The people making it a issue are mostly on the internet across the various blogs and forums. I've been watching CNN on the hurricane most of the day and I've only seen the issue brought up once and it was just a quick mention with out much details.

lol but it is quite funny to hear the Republicans crying about someone making a issue out of something dumb. That's like the favorte move in the Republican play book.

Excerpts from the Declaration of Independence:

I think it is pretty easy to see that the Founders did indeed put this nation "under God". Endowed, appealing and protection leave no other possible explanation except that the Founders felt there was a higher power over this nation and their work.

If one takes an objective view, there's nothing wrong with Palin's statement.

Yeah, except for the fact that many of the Founders were deists, not bible thumpers.

Then why did YOU bring it here in the first place? Because you needed to make an issue of it. No one was fooled by your pitiful attempt to pretend we were going to have to drag it out of you, either.

For the same reason he brought the false rumor about Sarah Palin covering for her daughter Bristol 4 months ago when Sarah actually gave birth.  He needed to make an issue of it. ;)

Okay maybe true not that I believe it. Name the only President that didnt mention God in his inaugural speech and give your explanation as to why he did not.

When I brought it up the other day it was well before it hit the news and was only a eRumor. However I had a feeling it had legs but if you remember, I never brought up the actual topic. I just said their was a rumor out there involving her family that might not be good for her. Someone else posted the actual rumor, it was only after it posted that I added the details.

This is the exact same thing as when Al Gore got busted for having a crazy power bill while he was preaching about global warming. You guys went nuts over that here in the O club and rightly so because he was being a hypocrite. This is the same deal.. This woman is a avidly preaching about abstinence only should be the only thing taught in schools. This puts her in the same hypocrite status as Gore was in because her own daughter who was likely only 16 at the time got pregnant. Which shows how wrong the women is with her preaching the abstinence only policy.

I posted the info that was out there and it turned out to be pretty close to true.. Her daughter is pregnant.

That is so far off I cannot even think of an analogy. Saying Sarah Palin covered for her daughter when having a child that turned out to have a disorder is NOTHING like going public with your daughter being pregnant.

Yeah, except for the fact that many of the Founders were deists, not bible thumpers.

A few were ministers.

Check these names of signers of the Declaration: John Witherspoon, Robert Treat Paine, Lyman Hall

You may disparage the ministers as "bible thumpers" but the facts are the facts. Deist still believe in a supreme God of the universe. The vast majority of the Founders believed in God and had no problem with invoking God in the course of their governmental duties. They reference a Supreme Being in speeches, letters, Declarations of Independence, etc.

The point is that deists believe God is revealed through reason and rationality, the others through faith or divine revelation.  Deism is pretty foreign to the religiosity of most American Christians, and many ministers vilified it as a kind of atheism.

In conclusion, I'd say that the mainstream Christianity of today's politicians is antithetical to 18th century deism.

I didn't go through sex-ed class and I never ended up getting anyone pregnant during school.

Yup!  involuntary abstinence works!

You brought it here knowing exactly what would happen. You went looking for dirt and found an eRumor then posted that there was an eRumor. You knew that by posting it someone would go searching for it. It just happened to be me this time.

WRONG!

The original rumor was that Sarah Palin was actually raising her daughters child and had not been pregnant herself. How is that even close to the truth that Sarah Palin was in fact pregnant and gave birth to a boy with down syndrome? The fact that her daughter did turn out to be pregnant is a different story entirely since Sarah didn't cover up anything.

Abstinence can work and in fact is the only fool proof form of birth control if it is followed. Other forms of birth control work quite well also, but they have to actually be used as well. The fault isn't with the mother's teachings, it is with the child not following the teachings of her parent.
