290 through B/CS already has a steady stream of traffic, probably going to be real thick tomorrow.  Gas stations are full and Sam's, wallyworld, etc are packed.  Pple not taking ol Ike lightly around here.  I would sure hate to be in Angleton when it arrives.

I live in B/CS and was here for Rita.  We had a lot of evacuees pass through here and it appears we will have the same again.

Same here. I think I'm gonna buy some beer, eat a bit of chili, and sit on the old front porch for a bit.

I understand being worried but don't assume a Tornado is going to hit Carrollton. The Storm is tracking NE, the worst weather for N Texas probably will be the Marshall to Texarkana area. Even that doesn't mean automatic Tornado. Hurricane spawned twisters are not the same animal as the big F4/F5s we get in the spring. I hope your family is safe, theres room for concern but not panic.

Thanks for the lift there Shifty. <S> I forgot that the storm will be tracking north east when it hits. In that I hope you and yours will be safe.

Hang in there Bud.<S>

I do think your company should allow you to go home and sit this one out with the family though.

I'm about 70-80 miles east of Carrollton. If you have any problems at home my wife and I could be there in about an hour and a half weather permitting.
PM me if something out of sorts happens with your family.

Was on the radio this evening with a station in Galveston. He was planning to ride it out... changed his mind when his local  weather synopsis included the terminology 'certain death'. Storm surge expected to top 24 feet.

He's on the road now... I hope he manages to make it out; my understanding is the road network is overwhelmed.

Looks like I'm gonna get stomped on by a hurricane here in Southeast Texas.   :O

I can't say how it's gonna all go down, but what I can say is this...

I'm glad the thing is called "Ike" and not "Gustav" or "Edward".
