The 109 can't maintain altitude with more than 10 degree flap, at full power!  10 degrees takes about 150 mph off the speed.  I like that it doesn't fly inverted very well!

Wells perhaps you remember CK.91 Bf 109G-2? It too had the flaps size of B-17 wings. It's the LW conspiracy I tell you.

Try diving with the 109 though, in case you are about to overshoot just dump 10 deg flaps to maintain current speed, even at vertical dive and full WEP. If you want to do that Tom Cruise Top Gun Stop(tm) drop full flaps, just make sure you have the harnes on or you'll fly outta the windshield.
