Axis vs Allies Arena, opperation jumper-cables
« on: September 17, 2008, 01:48:29 AM »
Its ded, theres usually only 1 peep in there, no idea what hes doing in there. Want to know what he's doing in there? Maybe we don't want to know what hes doing in there!  :rock
If he wants to do that in there, let only him have to pay for the AvsA section.

---------------------------------------------

A) Could ya put the name of the map in the 'choose theatre section' pls?
B) Could ya make the maps smaller, so even if theres only 2 players, they could still have a chance to fite. 4squares by 4squares max arena size!
C) Put some sort of scoring method so it has meaning, like a special event but a 24/7 version.
D) Make the choices of planes limitted so its axis vs allies of the period.
E) Maybe change the map once per week?

---------------------------------------------

Examples:
A) Battle of Brittian: a small map, just big enuf to have the dover cliffs and few bases on each side of the channel. I think most would like to go kill the bluebirds once in awhile.
B) Stalingrad: A small map, with a big city in covering most of it, and a river going thru an edge of it. A few airbases or so (historically located). Lets fite over the tank factory and stafe the boats!
C) Pearl Harbor map... ofcourse, carriers vs island also carrier vs carrier neat too.
D) A Malta map. Has part of Sicilly and ofcourse, uh, whats the name of that place? Malta, duh.
E) A Suez Cannal map, not? don't have to be historic.
G) A German vs Japan map, again non historic, mite be fun too.

If not, send someone in to go find out what that guy is doin in there, maybe he knows somethin we don't?
if the BoB is proof the spitty was better, then the Battle of Dieppe is proof the 109 was better.

Shane said in game 'oh the nazi kid' referring to me...
Lynx got in it saying 'yawn' and then calling me 'tw@' again...

Its really too bad this did not catch on...no idea why it did'nt, the concept is great, the planes are pretty well matched, the map is awsome,.the people that did try it were mature and respectful...and the times I flew in there I actually had FUN.  The only problem is;  there just isn't enough people in there.  I guess the idea of a fair fight and behaving like an adult just does'nt appeal to the MA hordes.  You did a fantastic job on this Bug, I hope it eventually takes off (<--- pun).

Here's an idea tho,  you could set up a squad night scenario in the AvA arena...hmmmmm..testosterone pumped, puff struttin, knife grindin MA squads bangin heads in their own little arena with evenly matched planes to boot!  I'm thinkin there's quite a few bigshot squads that would find that opportunity hard to resist.  Just an idea to get the arena going...but if you set something like that up, the 31st will be there for sure!

To the OP, the maps in use right now are 512x512 but in this current scenario there are objectives relating to a relatively small part of the map, you cannot advance any further past a certain point for both sides. The one person in the arena, as I have seen, is usually somebody who's never been in the arena before. It happens all the time.

Schlowy most of the things you are looking for already exist in the AvA.  Check out this thread: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,247150.0.html

Most certainly stop in some time and check it out.  Nights with good numbers are usually Tues, Thurs, and Sun.

As for the map ideas, those are all great.  But you do realize the maps we have in there are player created?  Make those maps and I'm sure they would be used in the AvA! <S>

From my experience in the old Combat Theater and now the AvA the numbers fluctuate greatly and drastically over the course of the evening.  On numerous occasions I've logged in when there was only 1-2 people and just enjoyed a few rounds of 1v1's till more people showed up which they nearly always would.  I think there's enough curious that if they just stopped in rather than dismissing it because there are only a handful of people on you'd see the numbers more consistently.  Numbers feed on numbers.

This is all still absolutely true.

Schlowy, if you see one guy in there, go in and either help him or fight him.  As Soulyss says, more will come in soon.  You will find that you don't need massive numbers to have a massively good time.  Some of the best pilots in AH2 can be found in AvA.

The maps and plane sets changed weekly for years.  Since January of this year we've been trying something else, which in its current form is basically a campaign that moves through the war in the ETO.  The past few weeks we were in North Africa.  This week we're in Sicily....can Italy be far ahead?

While prime time tends to be around 9 pm to midnight, Eastern time, I've seen the numbers grow in the arena virtually any time that you can get a couple of people in there to attract others.  Don't be shy - even if there's no one there, log in and grab a bomber, or put a new fighter through its paces while you wait for someone else.  Usually doesn't take more than five or ten minutes.

Ohhhh, you is the funny one.  Not only you cannot find these guys, but if you by any chance you interfere with their porking they just move somewhere else.

Oh, and the thread is in the wrong forum.  please move in the AvA.  Thank you
