trying to get a c47 or jet in air
« on: September 18, 2008, 10:14:30 AM »
Hello,i am having problems getting c47 or jets in air started about month ago,all other planes are fine.I just don,t seem to be able to get enough speed for take off,if i can manuver near a large hill and take it off auto take sometimes i can get the c47 up.I have recalibrated my throttle stick etc  but nothing, again all other planes are fine frustrating to the max,if anyone has a thought would really appreciate it.

Ok, can you please be more specific about your problem?

Here's what immediately pops to mind:
- are your RPMs at maximum?  If you have them programmed to an axis on your joystick, that axis may be calibrated incorrectly, and that can cause these problems.
- are your flaps down?

Again, please provide a few more details.

Ok, the only thing I can think of at the moment is that your brakes are on.  Try going into the key-mapping menu and removing any keys assigned to turn on your brakes.  Also, check in your game controllers thing (also in AH) that no buttons on your joystick have been mapped to brakes, and if so remove those assignments.

Also, what joystick are you using?

Brakes would be on on all planes if it's a mapping issue.  It's the using a big hill to assist on takeoff that's throwing me for a loop.  Are you landing somewhere and then trying to take off again?

It's because my parents are both American, but I was born (and have always lived) in the UK.

As to your problem, I'm beginning to think you should post this in the tech support forum and look for help there.

Have you checked to make sure both engines are powering up the same?  Sounds like it's all multi-engine AC.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

check to make sure that your throttle is set to "throttle 1" and make sure it is calibrated.

that is all I can think of

if your stick is correctly calibrated then auto take off shouldnt be a problem. If its a manual take off after rearming or whatever, keep forward pressure on the stick to build up speed, pulling up too soon screws up your AoA (angle of attack) your air speed will drop. Always make sure there isnt a big mountain at the end of the runway  :rock

try turning on wep "p" in the C47 when taking off, if it runs great once you engage wep, then likely your RPMs (different from throttle) are not set to maximum.

*** Check Fuel load out  / Hit Control & E  - together - Throttle Lock ***

Fuel load out for jets is no higher than 75% - max. Until you get the hang of it.

Start out with 50% first.

Also use the jeto or rocket  assist on the AR234 on take off. Setup your secondary weapons - Should show jeto  or rockets

Now once you get rolling hit the secondary weapons key. Start the rocket engines up.

Goon (C47) you should use 50% for most flights.

Unless you are going 3 or 4 sectors away with extra air time while at drop zone.

Then use 75% fuel load out in C47.

*******************************************************************
Hit Control & E  - together - Throttle Lock

~NOTE:~
****************************************************************
*Now watch out for any trees or mountains before you take off.

*Check the airfield out by being in the tower and hitting F3 and F8.

*Now hit Numpad 8 or you hat switch on your joystick.

*Move yourself around and look at the base layout first.

*You may also want to hit F5 a over view also.

*A mountain or tree could cost you some perk points.
***************************************************************

If you are starting and stopping the engines separately.

You must reestablish the engine throttle lock for take off.

Ctrl & E  - Locks both throttles together and then you will have full power from both engines.

Also just remove auto take off.

While going full power with WEP down the runway.

And push forward or down on the stick.

Just a little bit.

Keep her straight! - A little rudder

Then you should see your tail lift up.

Keep it steady!

Now your speed is built up good.

Lift off when you reach the other end - (towards the black landing marks at the other end of the runway).

Now the aircraft should lift off with no problems.

Now your air borne!
