The opportunity included my choice of various evil black guns from different manufacturers (Saber, Bushmaster, DPMS, etc.). There was probably 25 different carbines, maybe 20 of them in .223. There were a couple .260's. There were these two .308's; I soon as I saw them and the price I said "I'll take both of them". At $1100 the pair, how far wrong could I go?   :D

I just can't get into .223. As far as I can see their only benefit is that ammo is relatively cheap. If it ever, ever comes time to use these type guns I'll take .30-06 or .308 every time.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Yup.. after playing with the Mini-14 and graduating to the commie martyr carbines my daughter was eyeballing the FAL and my old M-39. 'Too Heavy, Too Big' she said. They stayed in the racks. One day I took 'em out for her to try on a field trip..

After she'd run a few mags thru 'em her eyes were kinda wide.. 'it's a cannon!' Then, when we strolled up to the abandoned truck she'd slaughtered, she whispered 'holy s***t, I get it... when you use a .308 they gotta know your serious!'

Best comparative discourse on mouse guns vs battle rifles I've heard yet.
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.
