i would be willing to bet he is one of those guys that builds a character then sells it on e-bay. i know its ridiculous to consider but some high level characters have sold for hundreds of dollars to people who don't want to go through the time to build one from the ground up.

Not at all. Some people enjoy playing online with their friends, and still having a social life. Why spend 200 hours leveling a character when you can have somebody else do it for you for about a dollar an hour? It's a pretty popular type of service for a lot of people.
