remodel the Lancaster?
« on: October 13, 2008, 12:19:29 PM »
Hi.
I'd really like to see an update on the Lancaster bomber.
I especially think the cockpit needs working on, just like in the B24 and B17 where the cockpits are excellently modelled with fully working throttle, rudders, gear levers etc. When on those long bomb runs it gives a nice atmosphere to the sortie if you know what I mean. Such an iconic bomber of WWII deserves a good look.

What's everyone elses thoughts on this?

Judging from what a/c HTC has been remodeling lately, I'd predict that the Lancaster, A6M, Hurricane and Bf110 are next on the list.

I hear you on that. Despite it being my favourite bomber ever I sometimes don't want to fly it because it's just dull.

But like what's been said, it's due a facelift now so I'm looking forward to what magic HTC can perform!

Wasn't a remodel though.

The B-17, B-24 and B-25s are all AH2 standard, but only the B-17 was ever AH1 standard.

Well, when HTC remodels the Lancaster, could they simplify the skin along with it? Skinners are having a tough time trying to paint this bird and therefore tend to stay away from it.

That is always part of the remodel process.

Yep, old model skins are 2 256x256 bitmaps and new models are completely remapped as 1 1024x1024 bitmap.
Keep in mind however that though the default skin for all old model aircraft is 256x256, all custom skins have to be done in 1024x1024- at the cost of being a PITA to do for skinners, 1024x1024 looks many times better than 256x256, so always use custom skins on old models! :aok
