Implemented for Gv'ing mostly...
« on: October 21, 2008, 10:14:12 PM »
Well, I know the old secret where to GV better, you set skins at default... Which is a pretty good idea, but here is what I'm thinking... If YOU set their skins as default, they can also see YOUR default skin on your airplane... So you dont kind of cheat it... OR... The enemy plane/tank has the exact same skin you currently have on that plane/tank.

So that way you cant just go around in a Panzer like that or a Tiger and expect to get easy kills... So that way, YOU have to have your default skin on to make you just as vulnerable...

Any thoughts?

Well, would it be a good idea or not? I've been thinking about it for a while now... Not too sure how it would work though.  :salute

Im sorry, im confused. How would a vehicles skin make it any more or less vulnerable compared to if it was on default?

It's to allow a player to see the other guy better.  For example, let's say the default skin for the Tiger is pink and someone uses a woodland camo custom skin so the Tiger would blend in with the woodland areas.  This would cause the Tiger to be a little harder to spot since it's no longer standing out in the default pink skin.

By checking the 'Disable other plane skins", the Tiger will always show up in the default pink skin on your front end, regardless if the Tiger driver selected a different skin and you will be able to spot it easily in the tree line.

Oh ok, I understand now thx ack-ack.

As for the idea, I dont see a need for this because you have the option of using the skin you want to so I see it as fair game.

Yea, but there always is that one little group of people that try to 'game the game' seems like I would rather see them have to go around in a default skin so they can see yours.

I dont think choosing good camo for your tank is gaming the game at all. Seems like basic strategy to me. I think thats like saying someone is trying to "game the game" by positioning themselves on a hill to have a better vantage point. :huh

No, but a lot of the time, people will choose 'Disable other plane skins' which means they only have the default. Which in a sense, is 'gaming the game' as the Panzer and Tiger default skins are Orange and brown...

I think one thing that might help is to make the MA terrain more chromatically varied, so that the default Panzer skin doesn't always stick out like a sore thumb, and so that fighting the Sherman isn't like fighting the "Predator".

You've got to be joking, either that or this is a poor attempt at a troll.  I really can't believe someone is actually complaining about the default skins.

I've never ever downloaded a custom skin since I've been playing AH (Jan 2001).  First because my old comuter couldn't handle it and since because I just don't care and don't want to clog up my comp with a bunch of extra garbage.

So if that's "gaming the game" I suggest HT gets rid of all custom skins.  Problem solved.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
