Mom's computer seems to go on and off the internet in randomly. I think it's the phone lines because she had trouble before. Then again it could be the dsl modem which really looks cheap.

Better a get one because that happened to me they say it last for about a year at most mines only go for about 6 mouths then they give.

A power fluctuation will effectively shut down my DSL modem and or Hub. No net until it has been power cycled.

Thats with an older Linksys 8 port switch and a netopia DSL modem. Doesn't happen often but it does happen.

If it is going out more than once a week i'd look at the DSL modem or a conflict causing it.

It goes out several times an hour. I'm going to stop by ATT and pick up a new modem to see if that is the issue.

I had a similar problem with my cable modem once.  It turned out the incoming cable connection was loose.  I tightened it up and problem solved.

Check all the cables.  If you've got a spare around, try replacing one at a time.

I think you are on to something Baldegl. We have ATT coming out today. They think it's the line as well.

Skuzzy, you were right! (No surprise) The video problems were caused by the nvidia drivers for the 8600. We switched to the radeon 8750 and no more issues.

Had the same internet problem.

AT&T fitted a 'proper' (rather that the dongles you fit to the wall socket) line filter and all the problems dissappeared.
