I'm in the process of exploring the entire map.  Doing so is a considerably difficult task, very time consuming.  I wish that once you get the explorer perk, that you'd be capable of fast traveling to any location, regardless of traveling via foot.

What's your favorite aspect/part of the game?

I actually thought the same thing, until I started walking everywhere. There are many things that do not show on your map at all. Walking about and exploring seems to be the best way to find them.
Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I'm not sure that is what they had in mind when the term, 'shotgun wedding' is used.

Attention to detail by reading the entire thread:

how much better is it on the PC as the Xbox? My brother got it for xbox yesterday, I have not left his house since then. Anyone else kill everyone in megaton? We slaughtered everyone and found a shed load of money and items. If you go to the blue lantern there is a floorsafe with 300 caps in. Im going to pillage it all before i set the bomb off.

"*Combat.  VATS is cool, but if you're not using it, combat gets difficult.  Shooting someone in the head with VATS is 100x more effective than not using it.  Better balancing on combat."

Actually here I have to disagree, I almost never use VATS at all. I think its a good solution for the consoles, but not really needed for the PC. In fact my biggest complaint is that I can't seem to turn auto aim off entirely. Scoped .44 mag, 2 or 3 headshots and they go down.

"*Weapon customization.  You can build some cool, and some awful weapons.  I'd like to be able to mount a scope, or silencer on the combat shotgun, or the Lincoln repeater.  Or to put custom markings on your armor, like your name, or gang symbol."

Yes, should be able to find a unmounted scope, in perhaps poor condition and mount it on any gun in your inventory. Should be able to find 3 or 4 of them and repair one up to very long range zoom.
Modders are just getting started with what they can do. One of my characters spent 80% of his time with a Star Wars Light saber in his hand. Tis a wonderous thing slicing and dicing supermutants.
Hard on stimpacks, but fun!

*Losing karma from stealing in a lawless world is eh.  I understand murdering, but stealing, even from a bad character resulting in loss of karma is kinda lame.  I do like the whole karma system though, it's very original, as far as I know."

Agree, Once you kill someone, like say Dukoff,  their stuff should be available to pick up with no karma loss. Their bed if any should be free to be slept in. In effect their hidey hole should become your hidey hole. At least till the landlord rekeys the door.

So no its not a perfect world, however its close enough for now. And give it another month or 2 with the Geck out. Someone will find a way to make it even better.

I'm hoping they release the upcoming patches for the PS3, I heard they were doing it just for the X-Box 360, which is stupid.

*Quick look confirms.  The added "expansion packs" are for the PC and X-Box only.  That's horribly unfair.*

Does anyone know if there are any books or anything about the Fallout storyline like there is for Halo? I don't get nerdy about alot, but I'm afraid I've been sucked in lol.

In case anyone is interested...Steam is having a sale on Fallout 3 till Jan 2nd for 39.99. I just bought it a couple days ago and well, Its the best game ive played since Half Life 2. I played this on my cousins PS3 last week, and I got hooked. After playing the computer version, the PS3 version looks and plays crappy. I don't know how people play FPS games with that awful controller. I guess its the old Doom player in me. I need a KB and Mouse =). Which gets me on a whole other tangent. The PS3 can easily support USB KB and Mouse yet hardly any game makers implement it!! I tried to play resistance (looked like an awesome game) but you cant use KB and Mouse. So stupid. For now my PS3 is being used mainly as a bluray player, and for a few games like GT5 Prologue and GTA4. Anything BUT FPS titles.  Anyway, no matter what system you own, you wont regret getting Fallout3!!
