Anyone figured out if there is any way to switch weapons other than using the pipboy?

Would really love to be able to get a gernade up quickly when I'm getting hit by a couple of those supermutants with chainguns vs my assault rifle.

Are you playing xbox or computer?

For the xbox you just hit the Right Button and a D-pad direction to set it up.  Not sure on PC but I'd be willing to bet they have something similar

Ghosth, if it's the PC version, pull up your PipBoy and go to weapons. Hold down a number key (1-8) and click on a weapon. Done!

Love this game! I finished it as a goody-two-shoes, now playing it as a naughty person.

You can assign hotkeys to any weapon or chems.  If you're using the console version, hold the directional button down and then select what weapon or chem you want for that button.  If you're using the PC version, hold down a key from 1-8 and then select a weapon or chem you want assigned to that number.

Ohhh, what a world of difference that makes!

Thanks guys!

Wasn't that impressed with the rockit launcher, other than being able to kill with garbage, then pick the same garbage back up and reload. Its cool but its not THAT cool if you know what I mean. Railgun, ehh, it has its moments. But seems to lack stopping power.

Wish flamer fuel was easier to find. That stops them dead in their tracks. Barbecue time!

Laser pistol and scoped 44mag are what I use the most. Cells are easy enough to find, or buy.

Fat boy is awesome.

DJ111 keep snooping around. Antgirl is closer to town than mechboy.
Lots of energy cells for laser pistol at his hangout.

I like laser and plasma rifles. laser rifle is good for taking out feral ghouls and other less stubborn targets due to low AP cost per shot, while still packing a punch. Plasma rifle packs a bigger punch and doesn't use up that much ammo, but is a waste of AP against several easy targets. Missile launcher seems to work very nice against humans, but very poorly against the mutants.
Flamer is a nice toy, but exposes you to damage and therefore I have little use for it. It works the best against several enemies at once - all the enemies in the way will get burnt.
I've also used Blackhawk, the special .44, but it uses up too much AP per shot compared to many other weapons that have about as high damage input.
Sniper rifles seem to be the worst. Lacking in ammo, damage and accuracy in VATS along with very high AP cost.
Fat boy is fun, but there isn't much ammo around :furious

scoped .44 is nasty.  taking super mutants legs off is no problem with it, and i'm playing on hard.

Ghosth.. You want the .44 repeater. It's a war relic ;)

Fishu, the hunting rifle is just about perfect for the ghouls.. Works over their melon almost everytime.

I stopped using hunting rifle in favor of lasers due to lesser AP cost. Comes handy when theres 6 ferals charging you  :D

you don't need AP if you have a mouse. Headshot and accurate limb leg without it. can tell how vats was made for a joypad pretty much. kinda making the game a bit too easy playing with a mouse i think but,  my preferred choice anyway.

I use VATS because the guns fire faster with it than without. Gets the job done faster and.. ehm.. easier. With VATS a target only moves couple of inches and in that time you've already shot 3-4 times. Without VATS you only get to shoot once and the rest of the time you'll be reloading.

Just get the death sprint perk, Fishu.  It's a perfect fit for VATS 1-shot setups.
