FSO Question
« on: November 08, 2008, 12:11:30 AM »
I had a little problem in tonights, 11-7, FSO. After landing on the CV my plane was lunched off the back of the CV before I could hit end sortie.

1. Will it count as a crash?

2. If I have video of it can I submit it to prove I landed and have the scores fixed?

Happened to one of my guy's in Frame 3 of Tunisia, as well
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

happened to 2 of us when we landed to re-arm. I landed, and cleaned up the aircraft, and brakes on. As soon as I got the weapons complete message, I blew right off the back. I even tried to roll throttle in to stop it but
couldn't.

Lucky for me, I was picked up by one of the small ships so I didn't have to spend the rest of the war on a desert island.

It is a bug that has been around for a long time. I think the way it works is if you catch the first wire, it will eventually slingshot you off the cv. As soon as you land retract your tailhook, this will stop it.

Happened to me a few years back in the scenario we did with the USAF academy guys.  :furious

Hold your brakes as well...

Regardless, only deaths that show up as kills on the logs, i.e. "Stoney shoots down a F4F flown by Dux" count as deaths with respect to score.  The only real impact to you is that you can't reup.  I imagine at some point in the future, HTC will get this fixed.

I think everyone has to be victimized by this bug once.  It's a right of passage! ;)  I doubt it will be fixed any time soon, so like the others said, keep your feet on the brakes or retract the tailhook.

Its never happened to me. Honestly.  :)
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

And throttle at 0%. Test your throttle on a runway and if the plane rolls even slightly, adjust deadband a little.

Another question.

If we get this Val patched up for Frame 2, do we get the points back?

No, but you get an extra 'atta-boy' for making the 8" gunner load his shorts....
