Requesting a drawing from the wizards of art
« on: November 16, 2008, 10:43:58 AM »
Seeing as I couldn't draw if my life depended on it, I'm asking if anyone here could make me a picture of a screw with the words The Screwed One under it, and made so it can be used as nose art. The screw would be vertical with the point down, with the letters in green. And would it be possible to have the background completely transparent?

Thanks,

TSO

All you need is IRFanView and Windows Paint.

Find yourself a picture of a screw, just the way you want it. Right-click the image, save it to a location where you can find it. Then open the image, increase or decrease the size according to your needs, then insert the text you so desire.

Afterward save the image, open it with IRFanView. Choose to save the image as a .GIF. Before saving the image, select this option on the right:

Save Transparent Color
   Choose Transparent Color During Saving

Now after you choose to save the image IRFanView will request that you to click a part of the image with the color that you wish to be transparent. Hopefully you get what you're after. :aok

I did what you said, but I can't have it s nose art in GIF format. Either changing it back to bmp removed the transparacy or it never worked in the first place. I don't have time to be messing with it now I'm in a pretty big hurry. hopefuly sum1 who does have time will pop in soon.

BMP's do not support transparency.  IIRC, if you want transparency shown up in game on the nose art the transparent part needs to be pink.  I can't remember the color # but when they import your nose art into the game, its configured that the pink area of your BMP nose art is transparent.

You can probably find a gun site with the pink and eye dropper it in PhotoShop to pick up the color math.  Either that, or just wait til somebody who knows posts it.

I thought the transparent color for nose art is gray (176,176,176).

Better be, 'cuz the pic in my signature is the noseart I made for my squad.  I have yet to see it on an airplane (gonna have to put the spurs to my CO to submit it to HTC).

You might be right.  I may have confused it with the gun sights pink.

The grey doesn't work, I'll need the numbers for the pink.
