Thought on refuelling/rearming
« on: May 08, 2000, 08:44:00 AM »
Was thinking that maybe, for the sake of minimizing "Victory 1000 by xxx", one should be allowed to refuel, but not rearm.

Just a tought.

I dinnae think that would be much of a problem.  I think as someone passed 20 kills they'd become a target with more and more people looking for them to end that streak

That would make it pretty useless IMHO.  Everybody would be forced to fly the F4U if they wanted to be able to re-fuel and have any ammo left.

Don't forget... when you log out you'll leave the plane, so nobody will be racking up huge numbers.  At best they could try leaving their machine logged in all the time and parking at a rear field, but chances are a reset or bad guys will get them eventually.  The only problem I have is that I don't have nearly as much time to play as I would like, so even if I am doing well, my streak will be limited by RL time factors.  Even so, I'm all for it.  I can't see any problem with a few guys getting big kill/sortie counts.

This will add to the Glory factor, without directly shaming any other players.  In fact, it will increase the potential glory, if you know you were the guy that punched somebody's clock and ended their big streak. <G>  Also, I won't feel as bad when I get slapped by Torque and I'm his 35th kill of the evening.    If I do manage to turn the tables I'll feel damn good about it.

"MY P-47 is a pretty good ship
And she took a round coming 'cross the Channel last trip
I was thinking 'bout my baby and lettin' her rip
Always got me through so far
Well they can ship me all over this great big world
But I'll never find nothing like my North End girl
I'm taking her home with me one day, sir
Soon as we win this war"

If nothing else it will show how good some players are and how bad others (like me   ) truly are.

Awright guys, you've convinced me.

My only worry is it'll make chickens outta the ood pilots.

"Attack or not attack that lone buff? Naw, it can fire back."

"Co alt fight vs a 190 in my 109? No, too risky."

And of course you'd be unable to see how many kills pilots score in their missions. Although this has been somewhat compromised with the panzers (victory 20 seen here).

Things like that.

Not that that will happen. I mean, here Men Are Men. And there are lots of sheep and few women.

Of course there will be those people who fly very conservative to protect thier score. That just means that when they get shot down you KNOW they're upset and pissed
