I'm in the wrong business.  My brother and I used to rock LEGOs all the time as kids.  We had so many of the things that we had to sort them by color in various 5 gallon freezer bags.   

Side rant -- Is anyone else really angry that nowadays not only are LEGOs quite expensive, but that they are no longer generic shapes?  My best example is I saw a set the other day that was a motorboat, but the entire bow section back to the cockpit was all one solid piece!  Not only does this limit what else you can do with this piece when you inevitably turn this set into a spaceship, fortress, or T-34.  Oh well, kids don't need imagination anyway.

Lego just lost a lawsuit that was extremely important to them. Now any company can make blocks that connect with Legos just fine, without violating any trademarks or patents. There should be some cheap alternatives coming very soon.

Really? solid pieces like motorboat's hull? That's dissapointing.

I used to make sizeable airplanes and ships out of legos. The biggest one had a span of about 3 feet. Took some effort to design the wings in a way that those would stay intact while still maintaining a slim profile. Better yet, I could have rebuilt it out of the memory, like most of my lego structures.

Just couple of hours looked at an advertise leaflet's back page when I picked it up and there was a lego police station. It looked pretty much like police stations 20 years ago, just with more additions to it and some newer gadgets, like a boat and two cars instead of one. Lego sure seems to be boosting it's marketing world wide before christmas as everyone suddenly has memories of the legos.

At some point, I made replicas of every active ship in the USN out of Legos.  I had started out with every single castle set (had to save my allowance and my X-mas list was simply:  Legos).  Point being, I had a lot of gray parts.

My best, however, was a WWII cruiser that I picked out of a book.  I made little catapults, seaplanes and cranes.   Wish I'd thought to take a picture of it back then.

I still buy some of the small sets and keep them at work or hidden away in the garage.  My wife hates them around the house.  Too bad for her...my daughter loves them (the big, kiddy sized ones.)

I still have @ 1.5 5gallon buckets full of the old style legos, my son has several sets of the newer ones that he has assembled in his room.  An A-10, several 3 ft boats(carrier, battleship...) and several fighters.
