We've all known people who have died tragic deaths.  Hell, all 3 of my older brothers skydive or fly gliders and have all seen people die, didn't stop them from continuing on in their respective sport.

Big difference between taking risks and doing things that put others at risk, dood. Are you ignoring the fact that the video you posted showed ya'll hauling A past residences? If you think that's cool, god help you if you do it in my neighborhood.

Take into context that I'm a former motorsports enthusiast, I have nothing against the fast cars going fast thing. I just always figured I should do it away from where people live. If you figure different, you're a jerk.

~edit~ Actually, the more I think about this the more it PO's me. It *could* be my neighborhood, since ya'll obviously don't give a damn about whose neighborhood ya'll were in.

I've saved a copy of that *.flv file and this thread's URL, and e-mailed it to cle@txdps.state.tx.us in hope they will be interested in this little self-admitted criminal conspiracy. Should be plenty enough forensic evidence for them to follow up on if they choose to.

killing someone else is going to be tough on their family. Far worse for you is the guilt you will feel for the rest of your life.

I advise watching 'The Machinist' with that guy from batman in. Cristian bale or something.

Isnt that America's favorite pastime to the rest of the world?  :D

Yup, pretty much sums it up...but, someone's gotta do it.  :rofl  besides, y'all had a go at it somewhere back in time.  :rofl :rofl

This thread brings to mind the following: "Youth is wasted on the young"...in most cases.   :P

I called my niece.  As I expected, she understood completely.  She also pointed out, in a somewhat philosophical manner, a thought experiment in a sense, that whenever an object moves through space, it is a result of collisions in one manner or another.  She made the point more salient to this situation by pointing out that an automobile is a perfect example of this phenomena as billions of tiny collisions are the result of, and the factor in, the velocity that a car experiences as it moves through space.  She pointed out that these tiny collisions are made more violent by the proportion of the square of the velocity of the system and this in turn makes the situation more difficult to control in proportion to the square of the velocity.  I think she makes a good point when she says that your being out of control increases with the proportion of the square of the velocity and therefore your irresponsibility increases the same amount.  She pointed out, in summary, that when her uncle drives 70mph instead of 65mph he is 25 times more irresponsible than the guy that drives 65mph.  She said that a person driving 110mph instead  of 65mph is 2025 times more irresponsible.  In final summary, you are 2000 times more irreponsible than me.  That is all according to my niece, she is only 3, so she still has a lot to learn.

Duly noted..   :aok :aok

Moray, you're an idiot, plain and simple.  That wasn't ME in the video.  Someone else took it.  Like I stated earlier, I was in the back, one of the last 3 cars.  And again, with your attitude, there is no other agenda but your own and telling people right from wrong, in this post as well as others.  Keep preaching and using assumptions.  It's clear you only want to see and read what you want to see and read.  If you don't see your preaching, well, that's because you are you and we don't expect any different.  Your purpose to post like you do is like you said, personal, and that means forcing your view onto others whether it's welcome or not.  If this is a sensitive subject, you should just have not even posted in reply.  What happened to you or your family is a tragedy but don't even think for one second that I blindly drove that road, it says a lot about you that you assume so much yet know so little.  But that's no surprise.

Ok let me get this straight now...

The topic of this thread is,let me see...  "What I did Last Saturday...(110 MPH through S.H. Nat'l Forest)"
Posted by you.  Therefore, I assume the "I" in the title is "you".  That's a stretch, right?

In this topic you link a video that shows a car, from the inside, that shows the speed of 110 on a residential two way non divided highway.  Am I correct there?

Sooooo.....

Since that now WASN'T you...per your last post.... I'm forced to believe that you posted this thread thinking you were going to be looked at like a hero for going so fast.  That this BBS was going to look at you in some positive way.  Since that has not happened, now you want to retract your statement.  You call me a hypocrite.  This last admission by you makes you a dense lying fraud.  You didn't even do it now.... and you're defending it. What an L7 weenie.

Moray, I think what Diablo is saying is that the car the video was shot from was not the one he was driving.  He was driving the blue Camaro that gets passed later on.  So he was doing 110 through the National Forest, just not in the same car the camera was in.

Now Diablo, I don't know what kind of a history you have with the people you're lashing out at, but it's time to take a step back.  Posting a video like this to impress people is always a dangerous thing.  It's either going to be admired or blasted apart.  Surely you knew that.  It's not like you posted a video of puppies playing, it was controversial (and illegal) from the start.  Extreme actions invoke extreme reactions.

I've been there and done that, thankfully surviving it all.  But i've had friends killed and watched friends get hospitalized from doing this same thing.  And along with them they've taken innocent people that were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.  You can say that you've researched the road and knew it was going to be safe, but you have to leave room for Murphy to step in.  One little patch of unseen gravel that spilled out of a track, a dog that ran onto the road, a blown tire and even a simple sneeze is enough to spin you off.  Once you're out of control it's over.  It's too easy these days to drive to a race track on an open track day and belt around even faster.  Why take the chance?  Better yet, why force others to take the chance with you?

I regularly run with my dogs in Sam Houston and have crossed that highway many times on foot.

I'd like to think I don't have to worry about 10 idiots joy riding in excess of 100 mph.

My kids have also participated in Orienteering events in the same park.

Personal responsibility is a key part of freedom. Absence of the first ALWAYS results in loss of the second.

I agree that driving at high speed is fun and did it myself when I was young and stupid. That doesn't justify it. It was stupid and irresponsible then and it remains so.

Anyone stupid enough to admit to a crime AND post video evidence of it is too stupid to possess a license to drive.
