B-29 had a service ceiling of 33,600 feet. Me 262A-1a had a service ceiling of 37,565 ft.  :salute

It flew on diesel and kerosene. It could run on basically any fuel with the same properties (heating oil, paraffin etc.).

Most B-29 missions in WWII were flown at an altitude of 20,000 - 25,000 feet. At 30,000 feet the B-29 had a top speed of 349 mph with a war load. At the same altitude the Me 262 could fly at 520 mph and was capable of 15,000 foot zoom climbs. To assume that the B-29 would have been any less of a sitting duck than the other WWII bombers that fought the 262 is naiveté of the worst sort.

Try out diesel at 30.000 feet  :devil

Anyway, useless if there isn't any ...
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

That's what the kerosene is for. Most modern Jet fuels are kerosene based.

I wonder what the Brits used anyway. Different jet engines.

15kft zooms? And the 262's level speed tapers off real quick after 25kft.
