Is Saitek Garbage or am I having bad luck
« on: December 12, 2008, 03:18:19 PM »
So My Fiancee bought me a new Saitek X-52 pro for an early xmas present since my X-52 took a dump.

So I set up my profile, and when i went to log into the game i guess my mini stick is off center.  I try and long in the game and the mini stick keeps holding down the E key (that is what i have it programmed for).

The engine keeps on shutting on and of because the E key is always being pressed.

Is it worth returning and trying to get a new X-52 pro, or should I just return it and get Ch?

And Do Ch Products have these kind of problems?

I know I just put up a post talk ing about a Saitek controller and asking when it comes out cause I'm always open to trying and testing new controllers. But If you ask me CH isn't worth it they arnt as good as they used to be! If you want the most bang for your buck I would go with the Thrustmaster Cougar hotas! It costs a pretty penny and youll need rudder peddles ( unless you program rudder to throttle) But I think its ezly the best! Its really well made sturdy and strong. Run about 180$ to 210$ depending where you find it.
Now as far as Saitek goes, It seems to me the more complicated they get the worse they're controllers work! I had lots of problems with my x52's but none with any of my cyborg controllers. If you like the feel of a Saitek and are not wanting to spend a fortune try the Saitek Cyborg Evo. Its a nice controller that you shouldn't have any problems with! Hope this helps and sorry for the bad spelling and broken English writing this in a rush

Fwiw, my CH Combatstick is more than 10 years old and it still works.  I did have an issue with it not long ago but it was easy to fix (someone from "the hanger" at CH walked me through it).

I sell all three and others.  I have never had an RMA, return for non working button or any problems with a CH Product.  I have had several Saitek, Thrustmaster and Logitech returns for problems out of the box, buttons breaking off on Saitek etc etc.

I have an run all CH on my rig (my pedals are a ps2 to USB converseion 11 years old) and still work like new.  Homeboy whom works on CH Sticks for customs states on his webpage that CH is a stepup and I have to agree with him.

Jebus, have you gone to the Saitek Control Panel to see if the mini-stick is actually moving when you are not touching it?  I would start there, and make sure the 'E' key is not programmed to another button, especially the clutch button, if you have that enabled.

Good luck Sir.

Stick plugged into an externally powered USB hub?
X-52's seem to suck a lot of power, and have some issues if they run short at any point.

Possible that that one has a fault. I'd consider returning it for a replacement.

Jebus,
If the engine is shutting down the key is switching on and off. Merely pressing the E key and holding it wont cycle the engine. The mini stick is a mouse control so perhaps your real mouse is back feeding? I have had two (X45 and X52) Saitek sticks and both still work great. They get a bad rap, some of which some is not deserved. Everyone says CH is the best but I hate the ergonomics and look of thier products. Their throttles are more at home in a jet fighter than a prop fighter with the slide motion. They may not break or have small quality issues like Saitek but I have to look at these things alot. No thanks for me on most CH flight sim products for me..... I think its bad luck or your setup conflicting with the new PRO system. Get another and try it again!

When I had my old saitek I programed the mini stick with no proble.  Up was gear, down was engine, right was Dive flaps and left was tail hook.  The engine and gear only work now. And I have to move the mini stick to the right to get the gear deployed, nothing else works except those two.  I tried reprograming them and everything still the same things happen.  I notice when I log into Aces High I have to hold the mini stick up for it keeps typing E in my Log in name. I have to hold the stick eithere up or to the left for it to stop typing.

I did go to the control panel and the mini stick moves fine, but i did notice when I dont touch the mini stick the curser i slightly down and to the right. Very slight.

My last saitek X-52 lost calibration after 6 months.  Before that I had another X-52 for two years with no problem.  My extended warrenty was running out and the buttons were getting loose so I thought what the hell might as well get a new one before the warrenty runs out.  I have problems with them since.

I tried calling costumer support but i keep getting there answer machine.  I bought the X-52 pro on amazon.  I dont even know how to return stuff on there.

Just wondering if the 'E' key is assigned under 'New Advanced Commands', and maybe it was put under the repeat selection.  At least I hope it something simple like that.  That would suck to have to return your stick already.  I almost returned my X52 because one of the pins in the cable was bent over.  The one that goes from the throttle to the joystick.  I got lucky and straightened it out with some tweezers.  Works good now, so I made rudder pedals out of my old Logitech 3D Pro.

<S> and good luck.

I don't have the mini programmed, but I have no issues with the Pro at all.  In fact, it was purchased as a temp replacement for my Cougar while I get the sensors and gimbles done....... Since I got the Pro though I forgot all about the Cougar.

I bought a new Saitek X52 a while ago ( back when I still played AH )....hooked it up , did all the programing
and used it for  3 nights . Un pluged it packed it back in it packing box .
I reinstalled my MS SideWinder and never looked back .

The X52  sat  here gathering dust for a year or so and I finally  gave it away to the Salvation Army ......

Checkers,

That sounds almost like a personal preference over actual quality and durability issues.

Saiteks are bashed way too much for issues that arent their fault.
