1 SBD vs. 3 A6M3
« on: December 18, 2008, 04:03:00 AM »
Final Score

SBD 3 | A6M3 0

This was discussed here almost two years ago, but no video links were there. The original thread is here: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,196719.0.html

This is a Dogfight Episode about "Swede" Vejtasa encountering 3 A6M3's that ganged him. Two kept HO'ing and the third was PICKing. The A6M3's, unbelievably lost.

I'm just curious if his rear gunner made it back with him or did he fall off the plane after all those ACM's?

It's a great episode, hope y'all like it and if you've seen it already I'm sure you wouldn't mind seeing it all over again. Great flying Swede!  :salute

Too bad all the other SBDs went down in flames. So if you count from the beginning:
SBD 3 | A6M3 3
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

You realize this has all the classic Aces High2 Dogfight earmarks:

HO's
Stick Stirring
2 planes collide, only one takes damage.

The only thing missing was the burning Zero didn't chase the SBD around for five minutes.

 :salute Swede

Remember the horde of numbers guys dogfighting in SBDs the weekend that episode premiered?
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Funny thing Wrongway... this post is rediculously accurate, except you missed one part
"Constant Flat turning"

I find it wild though that they said the dogfight lasted 17+ minutes. That's insane.

<S> to the Swede!

This is simply a real life example of the pilot being a large part of the equation. IRL a significant % of pilots were basically "numbers guys". Only about 5% of any one sides fighter pilots ever scored a kill, the other 95% were just along for the ride. The SBD is very functional as a fighter in the EWA/MWA vs an "average" pilot...

By 'average', do you possibly mean pilots who would try to out-turn an FM2 in a low speed turn fight? :rofl

PROTIP: Spitfire 16's aren't that good in the turns. When you see an FM2, RUN. He(I) will perforate your rudder if you turn with him(me). ;)

Hmmm...

I'm a bit curious why you would link my comment here? 1st I dont recognize the BBS name in relation to any in game CPID. 2nd I almost never fly a spit XVI. 3rd I dont run much from FM-2's (unless slap is driving it).
