kinda OT but what temps do your GPUs run at? after an hour of AH with lots of cons, smoke effects etc mine settles at 70-75deg (fan alternating between med and full speed) whereas CPU cores 1&2 settle at about 45-50deg. 75 seems high to me, although apparently within specs according to nVidia.

btw normal (non gaming) use GPU 50-55deg, CPUs 30-35deg.
Your good into the 80's with most nVidia graphics cards.  if your not OCed and not artifacting your fine in the 70's.  You will know when your pushing to high, the video card, PSU or both will make a squeel (seriously)

It also bears absolutely no resemblance to the real world.  Seems to be heavily biased towards NVidia.  A bit of a joke if you ask me.  Then again, the NVidia fanbois would eat it up.

Next thing you know, there will be another benchmark/test that shows the ATI cards 4 times faster, using a hacked DX9 DLL which allows hardware tessellation to work.

I was about to say the same, the scores do not reflect real world gaming performance.

Tested mine and it was 341. Which is about right for a Radeon 3850.

I am not Skuzzy but if your seeking realworld benchmarks that have recognition as true benchmarking utilities, you have a few limited choices.  Each and everyone of these Utilities are found in all the overclocking forums for compairing systems performance.  The software from futuremark is used for competitions on websites for give aways such as EVGA's MODRIGS.  They use the scores from 3DMark06 and Vantage to rate the fastest systems in the world using an EVGA product.

3DMark06 or Vantage http://www.futuremark.com/
SiSoft Sandra http://www.sisoftware.net/
Everest http://www.lavalys.com/

You also have CPU-Z, GPU-Z for showing validated CPU and GPU settings.  For instance click on my signature and it shows a validated Overclock of a q9450 CPU to 3.9GHz

My only thought about the benchmarking was it was more of an indicator than anything else. More like start here an see where you go.

I know that Perf Test by Passmark isnt a household name and at one point or another Ive used alll that you listed.  Did you look at Perf Test? It scores a number of areas in your PC, I use it not to compare to others but to have an overall benhmark to check myself against and its worked great for that.

Yes that and also a rig that scores low will most likely not play the newly released games at good frame rates or at the games highest settings for the true way it was intended to be played by the games designers (kinda like some GVers here who turn the visuals all the way down to see thru trees and hills for other GVs, take the fun out in my opinion).  Everest and SiSandra and used for tweeking your machine.  They show every aspect of your machine as far as components and the drivers with their realease info.  Simply by changing your driver you can improve your systems performance from a small amount to sometimes large amounts.  Finding the right combination is the hard part when swapping drivers.

No I havent but will... I am always looking for something to assist me with completed setups and how well we did in our choice of components.  We keep a data base of scores and what components we used so we can duplicate systems without a doubt of its gaming ability.  Like if someone say they play ABC game we look and know entry level build for that game if they say we play ABC but also XYZ we look at scores for the XYZ game and use those build specs so they can play the low end game (ABC) and the high end requirement game (XYZ) both without a hitch.  Makes for happy customers

Perf Test allows you to save your tests and add notes to each one.  Then you can bring up previous tests and do side by side comparisons with the current test, thats the part I use the most.

I got a similar score to the ones on top of 4870 users that were posted. This got me very suspicious since a 9800 nvidia was getting similar scores and 260 was blowing it away where in reality a single 4870 matches or outperforms a 260.

did anyone notice, that if you keep your vidcard set the same. the more you keep doing it over and over each time the benchmark finishes. the higher your number will go, without making any tweaks.  from the 1st test on my  ASUS EAH3870 512 meg DDR4 PCI-E card I went
1st test: 453
2nd test: 461
3rd Test: 468

quit it and uninstalled  the proggy after that........ just for giggles, anyhows...... I did not give this test much thought after reading Skuzzy's hacked file, ost.  just wanted to check the proggy out

No offense death, but that little program is a joke...

If you REALLY want to benchmark your video card, try these...They are a bit more realistic in terms of true results..
Aquamark3D----->http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=673

Futuremark----->http://www.futuremark.com/download/

You will not get any bloated or deflated scores with these....
