i have to admit ive been accused of being a "warper" so i did some research on my comp and once i shut down everything that vista was running, changed to "classic" windows theme, and deleted my girlfriend's sons iTunes i found the comp ran much better. although it still happens occasionally it isnt nearly as bad & now im waiting to buy a video card. any suggestions for under $150?

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl I shouldn't have to make that choice, I really shouldn't have to see it either everytime he's on. Nobody should. You say you fight warpers well Guido is the warp king. I have fought people that have mini warps but not the warpin that Guido does. He should change his name to Zorro because he makes large Z's across the sky. You say to just engage him and kill him, this coming from a guy who's self admittedly sucks.

It is not easy to kill him, in fact next time your both on ask him to DA you. I'll bet anything you wont even ping him. If Larry says he's a tuff kill then that should be enuff proof that he is . Larry is one of the better sticks that fly MW and he has a hard time with Guido. As far as losing all my perkies is of no matter to me, I very rarely use them, GV mode only. Why would I lose my perkies anyway???? are we doing something wrong by calling out the games biggest warper and the fact that were tired of it.

Thanks Lute

Sawtooth means you have something else firing off in the background.

Many simple things to do to change that.

A great start would be www.blackviper.com and use their Services recomendations to trim down how many Services you have running at all times.  (think i'm down to a dozen or so)

Another great tool would be HiJackThis (Trend Micro).  When you run HJT it shows everything that is running.  Browser Helper Objects, Registry changes, Terminal Stay Residents, pretty much all of it.  Do not be alarmed when you run HJT and see 50-100 things pull up.  That's actually fairly typicaly for todays systems.  The goal would be to try to get that under, say, 10.  (I have 2 things that run.  Firewall and a VideoCardy thingy).  They best way to decide what stays and what goes is to take the 20min on Goggle and see what they are.  Generally at the end of the entry line in HJT you will have a xxx.dll, xxx.exe etc.  Google that.

(example from HiJack This:O23 - Service: NVIDIA Display Driver Service (NVSvc) - NVIDIA Corporation - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe you would google nvscv32.exe to see what that was)

Just remember that you are not deleting any programs or any such thing, you are just preventing "stuff" from running when your computer boots.

(example: RealPlayer (if you have that installed) is constantly running at all times in the background.  If you allow HJT to stop that, RealPlayer will STILL launch when you go to watch a movie etc.  It just isn't running all the time in the background checking for updates and waiting for when you MIGHT want to use it so it can pull up a milisecond faster)

Carefull with HJT.  When in doubt take the 2min to Goggle the item in question.  Also remember less is best, so try to eliminate all the fluff and garbage.  DO NOT JUST CHECK EVERYTHING AND TURN IT ALL OFF!  Some things are import, such as touch pad software for laptops.

Another usefull tool is FSAutoStart (Google it) which has been updated and I forget the new name of it.  With this program you can set it up so it shuts down a ton of garbage running and then launches AcesHigh.  When you exit AH it then restarts everything it has shut down.  (it can also defrag Ram IIRC)  It was designed for Flight Sims.

And of course download 3-4 diff. anit-spyware/malware programs and run all of them.  Most are only good for finding @25% of the garbage out there, so it's best to find 3-4 that all excell in their own niche and cover y'er bases.  (one anti-spyware/malware program just won' cut it)

You do all this and you will not only be amazed at how much better you computer is running, but that nasty sawtooth will be gone.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

New known warper (now reported warper) is Jabrwock.  Multiple people reported him tonight.  I saw it first hand, as he was stable until someone got on his 6.  Then it was a warping nightmare.  He'd warp 2 to 3 times and pull onto the 6 of whoever was behind him.  I was flying in formation with a squaddie when we saw this BS hapen.

I, along with 2 people that saw it sent an email to Skuzzy about this junk.

Bring back the integrity to this game!

I used to think the server would force a disco if you had an unplayable connection.  Guess they need the business......

When i first read this thread I thought BP was refering to me as I used to have a serious warping problem, which did not help me in the slightest I may add, as Bigplay and Lazydog and the rest of the HG's seemed to be able to kill me on a regular basis. Seemed every time I fired the target jumped as I pulled the trigger, just the same as I probably appeared to the con. The problem turned out to be that some wassak cut a couple of submarine cables in the Med which stuffed the internet routes in the middle east for the best part of a year. It wasn't comp related as my laptop was bought specifically for playing AH and at the time was one of the highest specced laptops you could buy. I first played this game while assigned to my companies Houston office (Houston US not Scotland  :D) and like most of the longtimers in the game I became hooked as bad as a crack head and bought the new laptop purely because of AH, my existing one was fine for work but no good for gaming.
I knew I was frustrating other guys, hell I was frustrating myself but excluding monthly internet connection which in Dubai you pay through the nose for and my AH subscription, I had invested nearly 3 grand in hardware just to play an online game and through no fault of my own was warping faster than the enterprise on smack. So what do I do, do I stop playing altogether, cold turkey and pretend my laptop and flight system aren't laughing behind my back or do I play. Well call me a selfish B'stard I played, I did try to reduce my impact on other people by mostly GVing, I think the HG's will confirm that for most of 2007 I mostly GV'd, a goon was about all I could fly though landing the danged thing was out of the question. When you go from 1000 feet of alt to -1000 instantaneously it tends to to be pretty fatal. 2008 got better as they finally repaired the submarine cables but even then 250 was about the best ping count I got, it used to be 40 when I was in Houston. Hitec advertise this game as playable anywhere "Fight against hundreds of real players from around the world" we have no control over how our puters link to the servers, the minimum hops mine did in the ME was 10 hops Dubai to Tx, on a bad day was 23, some days was a combination.

It is easy to say people with bad connections shouldn't play but if you have spent a wad of money just to play 1 game on the internet, bearing in mind how many of you have spent money on your puters upgrading them with new video cards, RAM, TrackIR, flight systems, multi screens etc purely for gaming and found that it is not your hardware that is the problem but the internet itself,  are you going to say "Sorry chaps my connection is always bad, I'm not going to play any more". Maybe some one more altruistic than myself like Saint Peter might manage to do so but I don't see most guys in a similar situation to mine doing so. I know Lazydog stopped playing till he got a better puter but if he had still had problems afterwards due to his ISP and couldn't change ISP's; there is only one in Dubai, would he still stop playing until he had a choice. If the answer is yes LD then not only are you a better player than me then your a better man.

The summary is I will play as long as I can stand the hassle that warping causes me, or when my squadies tell me to Poff. not anyone else, a partial fix is better than none at all but then again I am a selfish B'stard.
