The trailer hitch on the forklift forks is pretty ghetto... :)
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

That's almost standard for any repair shop with forklifts. I have a 10 ton and a 5 ton bridge crane inside my shop along with four 1/2 ton jib cranes in the welding area. Outside we use three forklifts, all have a hole in the forks for such a device. Handy to hold a strap or move one of the trailers.

Our safety guy would crap if we used a forklift like that. Some of my guys got spanked last year for having a load basketed under the forks.

Hey Kevin, do you guys just work on the steam engines or do you work on diesels? I went to the Fairbanks Morse factory Sept 07 for two weeks for their overhaul school for the Alco 251. We have two 18 cyl. we use for emergency generators.

As has been previously mentioned,

A removable tow ball is pretty much standard equipment in the industry. If you go to the main site you'll see that we are a nonprofit organization, and while we do have other equipment, our primary project is the 2926.

Speaking of backup diesel engines, at our facility in the FAA, we have 4 -- 8 cylinder White Superior diesel engines.  They provide a little over half  of 1,000,000 W each of electrical power.

This is the link for the main photograph page.
Warning!  There are more than nine years worth of photos here, you need up a lot of time to look at them all. http://www.nmslrhs.org/pages/photos.html

Regards,
Kevin
