Uninstalling the game
« on: February 13, 2009, 05:12:30 PM »
My film viewer has not worked correctly ever since I have installed AH.
When I launch the FV the screen flashes to night and day really fast and if I try to open a video I have recorded it crashes my entire computer and I have to restart it.
So I have a few questions to ask.

Will uninstalling the game even fix it?
Is uninstalling ever worth it? As in, will it create a lot of head aches?
Is there a way to uninstall JUST the film viewer and reinstall it?

Also, maybe it isn't the games fault.
Is there some setting that is messed up, driver that isn't installed, ect ect?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try running it in Win98 compatibility mode.  Right-click on the .exe and select properties, then go to the Compatibility tab.

Have you made sure that you have all the terrains?  Sometimes if you don't have the terrain that is shown in the field, AH film viewer crashes but I don't recall it locking up like that from not having the correct terrain.

Alright, well running it in Win98 mode stopped the screen seizure and total lock out.
But when I click the folder to open a film, FV crashes to desktop.

Getting warmer...

Edit:
I found a way to get around it, I have to go to the file location it's self and double click it.
As long as it works I guess.
Thanks.

are you XP or Vista?  if it works ok by clicking on a .ahf and your system open the correct program I don't think it's a problem with the installation.  I'm guessing it's a Vista OS???

You don't have it installed twice do you (two separate drives) Check the properties of the shortcut that you use compared to the file location where you directly click and it works.

I am running XP and I only have AH installed on 1 of my HDDs.

Then if you can click on the file itself and it works there must be something wrong with the properties of the shortcut on your desktop.  Try this, go to the file itself, right click and choose send to, desktop create shortcut.  Now does this new shortcut work?  If it does compare the setup if the two shortcuts.
