Arena over cap
« on: February 21, 2009, 12:51:15 PM »
How about fixing the eternal bug that shows the number of fliers exceeding the arena cap by a wide margin (not by just a few).

Just now, Orange cap is 200 with 242 flying.   Usually I can waste time logging into Blue, then quitting, then finding Orange with a cap of 300 (in this case) so I can get in.

If the cap is REALLY dropping to 40+ below the actual number flying, please stop doing that.  Please.

Thank you.

Search is your friend.  I really wish you people would take a second to read about how and why the arena caps work the way they do.  It's clogging the BBS when you people just post the same old tired sob story about them.  I guess we'll just add this one to the 436 million other posts just like it.

In other words, it's not a bug.

When the arenas switch from a static cap of 400 to a dynamic cap, there will always be a period of time where one arena is going to have far more in it than the cap is set to.  It happens at 12 noon CST, everyday.

Once the other arena becomes populated, the caps balance back out again.

We could always have Skuzzy or another HTC personnel who's having a bad day and just randomly pick a number of players, which coincidently would be the same number of people over the current cap, and eject them.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

in this case the blue arena has fallen below it's dynamic threshold.  This will reduce the total cap in orange,  hence you seeing 40 + over the limit,  It most likely just occurred when you logged in,  until more players get back into blue,  orange will stay at 200 until more people get online.

You just have to adapt to the caps they were put in for good reason and the dynamic setup is the best solution in having TWO main arenas.

Personally I think they should have stuck to their guns and had early, mid and late war rides in their respective arenas without any caps.

The early and midwar arena could have a permanent cap of 100 and they still wouldn't fill up from what I've seen thus far, the Orange and Blue late war arenas should be a base of 300 per to start, then add to the cap like it is now. Nothing more irritating than your squad flying in the Orange room then having to wait an unnecessary amount of time for the cap to go back up from 100, whether just logging in, or especially after a disco.....  :cry :(

Do you think the wait would be any shorter if the numbers were 304/300 in the arena you wanted to be in and 120/350 in the other?

If anything, the wait while the numbers stabilized would be longer.

People just assume raising the cap will "fix" their problem.  It will probably make it worse.

And how, exactly, would a cap on EW and MW have any affect on the cap on LW??
