Any simple way to "toggle" drivers?
« on: March 15, 2009, 03:01:28 PM »
With my poor old rig, there are two sets of video drivers I have to use. For some of the older games I have to run an old set and the newer games a much newer one. If they don't "match," the games will inevitably crash. So, two questions;
Is there a program or tool out there that will allow switching between drivers without doing the complete uninstall-install process? I'd like to avoid dual-boot if possible.
I noted Skuzzy mentioning to not install the whole "suite" of driver software but just the driver. How can one go about this?

Go to control panel and start the NVidia Control Panel... Choose advanced, if normal has already been selected you can switch to Advanced within the NVidia Control Panel.  Under "3D Settings" then "Manage 3D Settings" choose "Program Settings"  choose your program and setup for each.  When launched they will apply the settings you choose.

Hope this helps

Not loking for settings changes, but "on-the-fly" driver switching...as in the entire driver installation.

I would guess something like this probably doesn't exist..  With drivers, you have installation and registry issues..  Not sure how that could be remedied on the fly..
Just the the process of re-installing a driver (if you do it thoroughly) is long and drawn out...

That's exactly why I was hopeful. :D
